Game Day: Florida Panthers at Edmonton Oilers, 9pm

These young ladies are not yet Craig Anderson fans. But they will be.
The Cats, and more honestly Stephen Weiss and Craig Anderson, come into this one having beaten the Ottawa Senators with scant seconds left in overtime on Monday. And on that subject: who wasn't yelling at the screen (remember when games were televised) with hands together, praying it doesn't go to a skills competition? Who would you rather have in your initial SO lineup: Alfie, Spezza, and Heater, or The Panther Alternative...whatever that might be on a given night - but it ain't consisting of names like Booth, Horton, or Stillman.
Good stuff, and my arms remain stung from banging on the ottoman - this time, with excitement - in front of my television after the winner. With nine seconds remaining. Money.
At least I won't have to concern myself with televisions or visuals going into tonight's match in Edmonton. Ahhh, the pleasures of living in a "non-traditional market".

CATCHING UP ON NHL '09:
The Box believes Edmonton deserves recognition for releasing the finest "third jerseys" in the league:
Then again, not to be outdone:
Whoops. My bad. Meant to go here:
No further roster moves were made last night, so expect no changes in the lineup for the Panthers. Which means RepikMania! Edmonton leads the all-time series, 8-7-3; the Oil has had a four-day layoff. Florida played Monday, defeating Ottawa with a late Stephen Weiss goal in a 4-3 overtime victory on the road. The Cats have not won in Edmonton since January 5th, nineteen-freaking-ninety-six.
Tomas Vokoun gets the nod tomorrow in Calgary. As for Vancouver on Sunday? Meh. When have Panther fans ever cared about the 'Nucks?

I still remember this game. Boy, that hurt. Plus, we had these idiot Oiler fans on the glass (and whomever sells those tickets to the opposition EVERY FREAKING GAME ought ot be shot!).
This was a good example of why we didn’t make it last year. Too many blown leads. Too many one goal losses. I like our fight this season, especially the last game. Last year, we would have lost that one. Not this year.
There’s still a ways to go and I still am not convinced they are playoff material yet. But, I’m liking what I see a little more each day.
It's the "C" word, drscruf...
…as in “character”. Something we haven’t seen since, oh, 1996.
Not playoff-ready yet, but agreed every game gives more of a reason to believe.

not to worry
we finally seem to have a coach that understands what it takes to succeed on an every-day basis, and after 2 long months the team is buying into it. You can’t blame them for taking some time, after years and years of boring defensive minded hockey being pounded into their brains by the worst coach we have seen since Mike Keenan (I dont mind Jaques as a GM, but his coaching style is about 15-20 years too late, this is a league that rewards goals, and lots of them)
And when you said that “c” word, i couldnt help but think that without our last “c” (Olli) and old coach, the team is having more fun together, things are a bit looser in the dressing room and its starting to show on the ice.
This is a big road trip in terms of the progression of our season. Should we get 7-8 points on this trip it would be a huge success and keep us right there in the hunt.
Not able to watch?
Just got this on a comment in my blog (floridapantherstalk.blogspot.com) ;) never tried it, and don’t know if it’ll have the same territorial restrictions, but somehow i doubt it. let me know!
Just had to there, didn't you?
Oh, but Ziggy’s mullet fit the fishstick look so well. :)
Thankfully the rumor is the Isles will go back to the original-ish look (no orange numbers) full-time. Wouldn’t mind if the Oilers did the same.
