Sean Avery opens mouth, Gary Bettman sews it shut

Sean Avery promises, and Sean Avery delivers...just never the way you bank on. In a truly hilarious pre-game comment, the King of Bizarre let one loose, and a classic at that, knowing full well what League-Overlord response was lurking around the corner. Must've really wanted the night off for this one against the Flames.

Following comments made earlier in the year about Calgary captain Jarome Iginla being "boring", and, oh-by-the-way, Flames blueliner Dion Phaneuf "dating" Avery-ex Elisha Cuthbert residing in everyone's collective mind, the Dallas forward decided to produce an atomic bomb in the spirit of the Giving Season:

"Uh, I'm really happy to be back in Calgary. I love Canada.

"And I just want to comment on how it's become like a common thing in the NHL for guys to fall in love with my sloppy seconds. I don't know what that's about.

"Enjoy the game tonight."

Want proof? Here ya go, with teammate comments:

Without delay, Gary Bettman's Secret Police suspended him for the remark.

Get out your best umbrella, 'cuz there will be a metric ton of fallout on this one.

Thanks, Puck Daddy.
