Discontent in Uniondale? Not with these two.

Once again stuck at the office this morning, and the server here is running about as smoothly as Eric Lindros approaching a girl at Coco Bananas, so an abbreviated Game Day is what's on tap. It'll be a big evening, however:

Please join Dominik of Lighthouse Hockey and myself as guests on Hockey Night on Long Island's internet radio broadcast at 3:30 pm this afternoon, for a preview of tonight's matchup along with discussion on a myriad of topics relating to the Islanders - and a bit of Panther talk too.

Having a bit of trouble with the customized button, so in order to take part, click either here or here around 3:30 to join in the fun.

[Note by Whale4ever, 01/31/09 10:42 AM EST ]: It would normally be in this space that the Craig Anderson "Nassau Coliseum Collection" would be inserted. I have refrained due to severe overuse. If you really really really must: here it be...again.

DIVISIONALLY SPEAKING

Florida 48 23 17 8 54

Atlanta 50 17 28 5 39

(updated 1.31.2009 at 4:26 AM EST)

  • The Flyers regained their scoring touch - for a night - devastating host Tampa Bay 6-1. Center Mike Richards had two goals and an assist. The Bolts did not.
  • New Jersey's Jamie Langenbrunner had another hot night (2g) as his Devils stole an overtime win from the visiting Pens. Pittsburgh now has an identical record (50gp 24w 21l 5so 53pts) as Carolina, though the Pens hold 9th place by goals scored (153 to 126!).

TODAY IN THE SOUTHEAST

  •  Detroit @ Washington, 12:30p. Does it matter what happens here?
  • Atlanta @ Carolina, 8p. 8 pm? Must be another Hee-Haw marathon on CMT. Otherwise, Go Thrash! Waddell Rules!
  • Tampa Bay is off.

 THE CHASE FOR EIGHTH...AND BEYOND

  •  Pittsburgh @ Toronto, 7p. Ever wanted to be a Leafs fan for a day? This is that day.
  • Buffalo @ Phoenix, 9p. The Sabres sit one point ahead of Florida in the East. Expand your consciousness and cheer on Keaton Ellerby's cousin.
