With the team 2-6-1, it might be best for (Dmitry Kulikov) to go back (to his junior club) in my opinion. No, he's not going to learn anything more in the QMJHL, but this place is close to imploding. It might just get ugly around here. This season has Titanic written all over it.

How vague can you be? I swear Richards is nearly unreadable at times. They’ve been getting blown off the ice in nearly every way possible and there is nothing of interest in his blog, aside from the usual “snarky” comments. I might pick up a Herald if our birdcage needs new lining, especially if this is the sort of writing we get. I know GR would greatly prefer nearly any of the other beats in town (and frankly, who could blame him right now?), but still. SOMETHING of relevance would be wonderful once in a while.
As far as Kulikov goes, he should definitely hang with the team and learn by fire. There IS no point in going back to the Q.
I can’t believe it’s only October…. The season just started and it feels like there’s just no hope.
Actually whale, if the shoe fits…
He writes that it looks like the Titanic. Well no kidding. Anybody with an ounce of hockey knowledge can see that. If you’re on the inside though, one of two or three assigned to cover this mess, don’t you think there’s a journalistic responsibility to provide some sort of detail that Joe Fan can discern from the recent crap we’ve seen?
Again, I’m just a fan. What do I know except that in a “real” hockey market, the press would be killing Panthers management and the team right now. Honestly, to watch this group (tough to call it a team right now) play, I’m going to hit the tailgate beers hard. At least I know I’m paying AHL prices to watch.
Right now, I’d argue GR’s blog isn’t much better than the Twinkies he has to cover.

Well, I think Gorten over at the Sun-Sentinel does a pretty good job of beating up on management and ownership. But nobody actually reads the Sun-Sentinel.
And we’re so not paying AHL prices. Season tickets in Syracuse were just over $400 when I moved here in 2006. Beer was $3, I think. The last AHL game I took in before I moved here was a 5 period OT thriller against Manitoba. The team played above their ability the whole season and made it six games into the playoffs. They were all too old, though and the Jackets let most of them go for younger players the next year.
Man, I miss the AHL. That’s ok, they’ll be probably be coming here in the next few years after Alan Cohen finishes running the Panthers into the ground.
Florida Panthers: Giving the league a punching bag since 2000.
lol
Ok, so it’s not EXACTLY AHL prices, but when I can get premium “sideline” seats in the lower bowl for under $20, it’s close enough. Granted, it’s not the War Memorial and the old Syracuse Blazers or Firebirds, but still….
And, are you not getting the 75 cent ticket deals? You could have had lower bowl for tomorrow night for 75 cents each! Or, you could buy a newspaper…. :)
