OPEN THREAD: Panthers at Blues (Really Bad MS Paint edition)
Florida Panthers at St. Louis Blues, Oct 31, 2009 8:00 PM EDT

Panthers vs Blues coverage St. Louis Game Time Panthers vs Blues preview
Right back at it, on the heels of Steven Reinprecht's four-point night. Two new additions to the Florida lineup for this evening include the flaming-hot Rochester Americans' D Keaton Ellerby and F Victor Oreskovich, in what's become a semi-confusing silver platter of callups and demotions. But for two games, it's begun to show some fruit.
On a personal note, ABC Family Channel ran 1989's Batman earlier today. Cinematic bliss for what ails ya.
Gallagher, Brad, and the entire lineup at St. Louis Game Time are stoked for tonight's matchup as well, so give 'em a whirl. Their club is looking to get on the sunnier side of .500 after a shutout loss to Phoenix(?) on Thursday. Must suck. Geez...five losses?
Can Rhino score another one? Will Rusty Olesz continue the heroics? Can Ville Koistinen find the Doghouse's emergency exit? What direction will the goaltending go tonight? Will coach Pete finally beat the constipation? Is an ownership struggle on the horizon? And for the love of God...who's looking out for the children?
These answers and more coming up soon. Thanks for dropping in, and Happy Halloween to some of you.

And little help from around the division: ATL beat OTW in regulation while NJ edged TAM…in a shootout, of course.

Yeah. Scratches are Moore, Repik & Ellerby.

Haven’t heard a timetable for the return of Moore yet; presumably his surgery was successful

…and just like that, Horts is back with Rhino/Stiller. Must’ve caught a midstream line change earlier

Goal!!!!
Stillman (who?) from Horton, apparently (no feed, listening to Randy Moller).

I paid for GameCenter, but Panthers games are blacked out here in Broward. And I’m not driving up to my mom’s just to watch a hockey game.
Florida Panthers: Giving the league a punching bag since 2000.
OH YEAH…ran into that last week when we had “cable issues”. It blacks out here as well.

Tell you this, Johnny: they have all elevated their games around the Reinprecht/Horton/Stillman line. Actually look dangerous.
Make no mistake, tho: the need remains for a big-time scorer
by Donny Rivette on Oct 31, 2009 8:37 PM EDT up reply actions
Reinprecht made it all happen, too. Believe it or not.

Of course the Panthers want to get out of the period with a 2-0 lead, Randy…
Florida Panthers: Giving the league a punching bag since 2000.
Glad you passed it along…is that the strategy?
by Donny Rivette on Oct 31, 2009 8:44 PM EDT up reply actions
Could be. Maybe he called Pete during the commercial break and asked.

Don’t want to say Randy is a master of the obvious, but…

They did this time, though, which is nice.

Been told that is what good teams do. I wouldn’t know much about that, given my history with certain franchises

Good, good. I was hoping last night would help that.
Florida Panthers: Giving the league a punching bag since 2000.
They’re climbing. Slowly, but it’s evident. Playing more as a team than I’ve yet seen.

Oh, must have been a play mid-change.

Every time there’s a play, the NHL site highlights all the players on the ice. Changing fast & furious on the Panthers side.
They’re got a clip up of the Weiss goal. Nice job by Rhino to keep it alive and Weiss to get in position for that rebound.

Hi! Sucks to hear Oreskovich is playing well.. we want him back. lol
Anyone find a feed online for the game?
Hiya KW…no feeds I’m aware of; they’re looking for one at Facebook too.
As for VO, wow…he’s certainly looking to stay with the Cats
by Donny Rivette on Oct 31, 2009 9:13 PM EDT up reply actions
And with all the player movement, really a miraculous job by he and Teddy.

Thanks! Groulx is doing a great job BUT the biggest help is having EXPERIENCED players that have been able to stay calm and not panic during games.
The team appears built to weather the storm. If only the Panthers could trade Andrew Sweetland or Brady Calla though.

Thought the York signing was brilliant.
by Donny Rivette on Oct 31, 2009 9:24 PM EDT up reply actions
It’s stunning sometimes how much that helps. The year before I moved down here, the Crunch signed Andy Delmore and Jamie Pushor and had their best year in quite a while. Of course, Delmore went back to Europe, the best players made the Jackets and everyone else’s contract ended, but playoffs that one year was nice.

Well, they finally got rid of Anthony Stewart. You can’t expect too much…
Florida Panthers: Giving the league a punching bag since 2000.
And yet Brett McLean is out of the league.
by Donny Rivette on Oct 31, 2009 9:26 PM EDT up reply actions
He’s doing better than Stewart (who’s back in the AHL) and Noah Welch (who got suspended by the Thrash). I think Cory Murphy got called up by the Debs.

I’m seeing more VO and McArdle hits on Blues players on the PbP…

Isnt that something you guys have been saying the team has needed?

Yes!
And the kids from Rochester are doing exactly what I’d hoped.

Johnny…any Seminole Casino “Do your thing!” ads on the radio? Have yet to hear one tonight, and life has never tasted so fresh.
I think there was one early in the second period.

What time is it?
That’s right, it’s time for another drink. What else is period break good for? Besides checking the scores?
Florida Panthers: Giving the league a punching bag since 2000.
Yeah. Ouch. I’ll probably be hurting too. Played for an hour and mowed the lawn. I’ll be good and sore for skating.
Florida Panthers: Giving the league a punching bag since 2000.
You guys really should go the X-Box route…easier on the legs.
by Donny Rivette on Oct 31, 2009 9:56 PM EDT up reply actions
How do you mow the lawn on X-Box? I know you can play drums on X-Box, but the real thing is more fun.

790 works during the day up here, but at night? Forget it. Some Creole station overtakes it.

About bloody time we had a good performance. Hopefully they repeat at home on Wed.
Florida Panthers: Giving the league a punching bag since 2000.
just got back from jacksonville from FLORIDA/GEORGIA weekend (go gators!) and actually read through all of this to see what the game looked like…and figured i miss what sounds like quite an impressive performance and 4-0 to show for it! two in a row feels awfully good and a good chance to make it 3? could carolina actually be playing worse than we are right now, tonight aside. i mean, we haven’t gone 0-8 yet!
