Carolina's Eric Staal injured; will miss Wednesday's game vs. Panthers
Looks like the dreaded "Upper Body" injury has has found it's way into the Hurricanes' second most important player - and South Florida's favorite visitor - Eric Staal. 'Canes general manager on a wire Jim Rutherford:
"When things go wrong, they go wrong."
Also out of Raleigh, the GM accepts blame for his club's current nine-game losing streak, and...
(Rutherford) said not bringing back defensemen Dennis Seidenberg and Anton Babchuk has hurt. Seidenberg, an unrestricted free agent, priced himself too high initially and Babchuk "took a strong position with the team," Rutherford said.
"But it's hard to lose both in the same year and the points they brought to the table," he said.
So which 'Cane gets the lion's share of the hatred Wednesday night when the Panthers host Carolina in Sunrise?
Open Thread goes live right here at 6:30pm.

bah
the way Staal has played so far, Carolina might actually benefit by having some other stiff in the line-up (and he fixes whatever is wrong with his big, oaf-like self).
Shame about Seidenberg. He wanted to re-sign here, and came back around to them but Aaron Ward had already taken his place.
It’s also a shame that the local Bavarian Brathaus (Cary NC) can’t have their “Free brats when Dennis Seidenberg scores a goal” anymore.
