Coach Pete has decided to rely on Craig Anderson in net for Saturday's game against the Stars.

Andy had 40 saves during Thursday's win in Philadelphia.

Question: is this a prudent move by DeBoer, who has always claimed to go with the hot hand? Or has Vokoun "learned his lesson", for lack of a better term, and as the Panthers' starter he should be The Man after one poor outing?

Its appropriate, the team did well in front of Andy – especially in the 3rd period which has been their nemesis for February and March.

Just wish we could tone down the shots either goalie has to face, mid-high 30s to 40+ is just too many each game.

It isnt so much 'lesson learned' by Vokoun

just b/c of his ‘style’ he gives up some weak goals, especially through his 5-hole (between the legs) and lately the cheapies have come at ill-timed points in a game. When Andy is on his game, he stops basically everything he should and some he shouldn’t.

If Andy pulls out another W tonight, I wouldn’t be surprised to see him on Tuesday against Ottawa….

I concur

In fact, I expect to see Andy in goal as long as the team keeps winning. As soon as he loses (or looks shaky), T-Vo’s back in.

usually i'd agree

but this team, in their recent history (earlier this year and at the end of last year) they have put Vokoun back in despite Andy being on a winning streak. At the end of last year it worked out, i think we won 6 or 7 in a row, with Andy getting the first 2.

Unfortunately with PdB the goalie situation is as improbable at it was in the Mike Keenan days (i remember being at a game where we were changing Luongo and Tervor Kidd almost every whistle….that man was/is CRAZY-keenan)

I hated using that “lesson learned” line, but nothing else came to mind. My bad if anyone mistook it.

I do not feel like this is the right move. It is a lose lose situation. Andy loses and Pete’s made a bad move especially with a high quality goaltender on the bench. Andy wins and you HAVE to play him again on Tuesday, or else he risks his credibility. You may be wondering why that’s such a bad thing. Well, if Andy wins, say, 3 more games before he loses, puts the Panthers back in the playoff picture, then Vokie only gets 3 games to play before the playoffs. I cannot envision Vokie sitting in the first game of a playoffs series unless Andy winds every game from here on out. TVo is the now and future of this franchise and is necessary for this team to advance into the playoffs and have a chance at winning. He needs to be firing on all cylinders and I think his one game rest was more than enough time to get him back in it.

Yea, mj, but Florida doesn’t really have the time to see if TVo has his game back or not. If Vokoun goes out and gives up a couple softies, it’s too late. Anderson is hot, he got the win, and probably more importantly has the team’s confidence right now. You put Vokoun back in, all of a sudden the guys in front of him are thinking they have to play perfect defensively, and it’s a mind game. Andy’s play gave the other guys confidence, that’s more important than anything right now. There just isn’t the luxury of time to give Vokoun a chance to find his game again. You have to play the winner and worry about “what ifs” later.

With ya, Stan. Just make the postseason and worry about intangibles in mid-April. It’s all we’ve got.
