But unlike lots of players he hasn’t fail in the playoffs…

Как же так может быть?

Haven’t heard a word on the PHI/FLA rumors (Van Riemsdyk/Lupul for Bouw)

Interesting conversation with Peter Laviolette regarding rental players and how they meld with existing team members

Alright…got some work done here at the office…back to TradeCentre.

by Donny Rivette on Mar 4, 2009 9:41 AM EST reply actions

Do we actually know the full extent of what boynton did? and what would do with him at this point?

by wiscopantherfan on Mar 4, 2009 10:05 AM EST reply actions

Really all depends on the infraction. Prolly pissed off Coach Pete. Bad.

by Donny Rivette on Mar 4, 2009 10:22 AM EST up reply actions

mustve been pretty bad to get sent home for 3 games

by wiscopantherfan on Mar 4, 2009 10:23 AM EST up reply actions

i guess kupa has signed a contract, kaberle was injured last night, and pronger has been taken off the market by anaheim, making the market for defensemen much smaller!

by wiscopantherfan on Mar 4, 2009 10:16 AM EST reply actions

TRADE: OTW’s Vermette to CBJ for Leclaire and a second rounder.

by Donny Rivette on Mar 4, 2009 10:24 AM EST reply actions

I know we drafted a goalie with our first pick last draft, but I find it hard to believe Anderson is going anywhere now…

by Stanley C. on Mar 4, 2009 10:24 AM EST reply actions

i wouldnt have imagined he would go anywhere because you always want a solid backup just in case something happens. im not sure why they threw his picture up there

by wiscopantherfan on Mar 4, 2009 10:25 AM EST up reply actions

I’d be stupified if Andy is moved. However, if Martin wants him to re-up, he’s gonna be the most expensive backup in hockey

by Donny Rivette on Mar 4, 2009 10:29 AM EST up reply actions

what if you got Nylander and bag of pucks for him?

Как же так может быть?

by sleza on Mar 4, 2009 10:32 AM EST up reply actions

doesn’t sound like Tkachuk is going anywhere either, according to ESPN.com’s “rumor mill.”

W4E, don’t forget about me! :(

by Stanley C. on Mar 4, 2009 10:27 AM EST reply actions

couple interesting faces on waivers. brendan morrison and satan in particular. do you think the panthers pick up eighter of them?

by wiscopantherfan on Mar 4, 2009 10:35 AM EST reply actions

Satan wasn’t able to produce consistently alongside Crosby or Malkin. That’s a red flag

by Donny Rivette on Mar 4, 2009 10:46 AM EST up reply actions

He’s 4th in points in Pens. And they have tried half of wingers in NHL and none of them has work well with Crosby. Hossa excluded

Как же так может быть?

by sleza on Mar 4, 2009 11:07 AM EST up reply actions

I knew my slightly biased opinions will be right someday

Как же так может быть?

by sleza on Mar 4, 2009 11:42 AM EST up reply actions

He hasn’t been that good since he was in Buffalo, though. Probably not worth the salary. Panthers would be better off going after Mark Recchi.

by John Beatty on Mar 4, 2009 12:21 PM EST up reply actions

the more i think about it, the more it intrigues me. the truth is, Andy’s a UFA after this year. His value is high, teams are looking for ‘tenders. If Martin can get a solid center\scorer in return, or something that improves this team, it’d be worth considering. there’s no question Vokoun is the guy going forward this year. Obviously an injury is a risk, but… who knows.

by Stanley C. on Mar 4, 2009 10:39 AM EST reply actions

I’d consider it as well if the situation in Rochester was a LOT better

by Donny Rivette on Mar 4, 2009 10:47 AM EST up reply actions

probably true. Tyler Plante isn’t exactly a brick wall. But we drafted Jacob Markstrom last year for a reason. If Andy’s gonna be asking for starter money to sit on our bench, it might be worth it to try to get something now for him.

by Stanley C. on Mar 4, 2009 10:49 AM EST up reply actions

Keep the thread hot! Be back within an hour…rock on!

And by the way…have you seen this man?

by Donny Rivette on Mar 4, 2009 10:49 AM EST reply actions

Still lots of Jokinen talk…latest is Calgary (is Keenan the only guy who can squeeze him)?

by Donny Rivette on Mar 4, 2009 11:37 AM EST reply actions

bit of a snoozer so far… 3 and a half hours to go… think things will pick up? any of these “big name deals” gonna happen?

by Stanley C. on Mar 4, 2009 11:38 AM EST reply actions

Jordon Leopold sent from Avs to Calgary for prospect and a pick.

by Stanley C. on Mar 4, 2009 11:43 AM EST reply actions

From the looks of it, Olli should be a Flame by 3:00. It’ll be nice for him to get to play in the playoffs, hopefully he doesn’t choke his chance away. he won’t be the #1 guy in Calgary which should take some pressure off.

by Stanley C. on Mar 4, 2009 11:49 AM EST reply actions

I know Toskala’s had some injury problems, but is Gerber really a worthwhile improvement? Hmmm….. still waiting for big news…

by Stanley C. on Mar 4, 2009 12:26 PM EST reply actions

The waiver deadline was 12pm, so unless something’s sitting on the NHL’s fax machine, there won’t be a Gary Roberts pickup. Too bad; hate seeing a player of his former caliber closing it up on the wire.

by Donny Rivette on Mar 4, 2009 12:26 PM EST reply actions

They could still trade him late in the day to someone who waited because they missed out on someone else.

by John Beatty on Mar 4, 2009 12:30 PM EST up reply actions

True dat…but why give up something and have pay his salary when you could pick him off waivers and only be on the hook for half the contract? Think he’s done.

by Donny Rivette on Mar 4, 2009 12:31 PM EST up reply actions

But I see your point – all depends on what happens with those remaining deals

by Donny Rivette on Mar 4, 2009 12:32 PM EST up reply actions

Why do I get the thought that Dom Moore winds up in Sunrise along with Kaberle?

by Donny Rivette on Mar 4, 2009 12:28 PM EST reply actions

I think TSN just said Kaberle is on the ice at Leafs practice, while Antropov and Moore aren’t, so you’d be led to believe Kabs could be staying put.

by Stanley C. on Mar 4, 2009 12:30 PM EST reply actions

They are loving the Olli at TSN.

by John Beatty on Mar 4, 2009 12:34 PM EST reply actions

who wouldn’t love him?

Как же так может быть?

by sleza on Mar 4, 2009 12:36 PM EST up reply actions

Half of Finland agrees with him :/

Как же так может быть?

by sleza on Mar 4, 2009 12:42 PM EST up reply actions

Sounds like Olli to Calgary is a done deal… just waiting for numbers and cap room I think.

by Stanley C. on Mar 4, 2009 12:35 PM EST reply actions

They’re saying Lombardi a 1st round and someone else for Olli.

by John Beatty on Mar 4, 2009 12:39 PM EST up reply actions

Proust? No idea who that is.

by John Beatty on Mar 4, 2009 12:40 PM EST up reply actions

Could you imagine the stir if Olli went to TOR? Everyone on TSN would drop their drawers

by Donny Rivette on Mar 4, 2009 12:36 PM EST reply actions

Apparently Martin’s latest offer to Bo was $7 mil a year. If he’s not traded today, it looks like it’s almost for sure he’s out over the summer.

by Stanley C. on Mar 4, 2009 12:38 PM EST reply actions

Back!

What I love about lunch break is now I don’t have to pretend to work while I’m following the trades.

by John Beatty on Mar 4, 2009 12:48 PM EST up reply actions

you and me both JB.

by Stanley C. on Mar 4, 2009 12:49 PM EST reply actions

Toskala is on IR, done for the year, hence the Gerber signing…. makes sense now

by Stanley C. on Mar 4, 2009 12:56 PM EST reply actions

Didn’t realize Toskala was injured; well there’s the Gerber connection. Duh.

by Donny Rivette on Mar 4, 2009 12:56 PM EST reply actions

Looks like the Gerber pickup was to help next season. Toskala to go on IR and have surgery. 4 month rehab.

by John Beatty on Mar 4, 2009 12:57 PM EST reply actions

listening to the TSN feed, Stan? Rather vanilla comments about Jokinen

by Donny Rivette on Mar 4, 2009 12:57 PM EST reply actions

oops. Can you tell we’re watching TSN? :)

by John Beatty on Mar 4, 2009 12:58 PM EST reply actions

I'm with Illegal Curve...

The Flyers have been too quiet. Think they’re tied up negotiating with JM for Bo?

by John Beatty on Mar 4, 2009 1:01 PM EST reply actions

haha yea, I’ve got the TSN feed up on my laptop here at work. They seem to be pretty impressed with the Flames. Olli’s gonna have to prove he can handle the pressure of playing in a city that actually cares…

by Stanley C. on Mar 4, 2009 1:02 PM EST reply actions

More hate for Olli

“Dressing room cancer.” “This makes the Flames worse.” “Doesn’t treat the young guys right…”

by John Beatty on Mar 4, 2009 1:11 PM EST up reply actions

Can’t go wrong at IC.

Flyers are frantic for him. Good chance JM’s playing two final clubs off of each other

by Donny Rivette on Mar 4, 2009 1:02 PM EST reply actions

I hope so. Might make whatever deal it is worth it.

by John Beatty on Mar 4, 2009 1:05 PM EST up reply actions

Not too much pressure on the third line. It’s a great fit for him.

by Donny Rivette on Mar 4, 2009 1:05 PM EST reply actions

McKenzie confirms PHI and VAN as the leaders in the race for Bouw…IF he goes

by Donny Rivette on Mar 4, 2009 1:09 PM EST reply actions

Who do you think Vancouver’s offering?

by John Beatty on Mar 4, 2009 1:10 PM EST reply actions

Crazy! The more time goes on, the better JM looks for trading him.

by John Beatty on Mar 4, 2009 1:13 PM EST up reply actions

Bieksa, a forward, and a pick.

Love to say straight up for the Sedins, but they’re UFAs too

by Donny Rivette on Mar 4, 2009 1:12 PM EST reply actions

We won’t bite on that…need serious forward, not a d-man like Bieksa, who’s question mark with potential

by Donny Rivette on Mar 4, 2009 1:13 PM EST up reply actions

Earlier I saw that supposedly JM wants a forward and a top-4 D back. If that’s true, there’s no way he’d take that.

by John Beatty on Mar 4, 2009 1:15 PM EST up reply actions

I’m hearing that dominic moore from toronto has been traded to Chicago. I haven’t seen anyhting on TSN though, did i miss it? Theyve been all over toronto today…

by Stanley C. on Mar 4, 2009 1:21 PM EST reply actions

thehockeywriters.com trade chat guys are telling me NHL Live has announced it already, moore to chicago.

by Stanley C. on Mar 4, 2009 1:26 PM EST up reply actions

I put NHL live on for a second, but the announcers are all comatose. Had to put TSN back on.

by John Beatty on Mar 4, 2009 1:29 PM EST up reply actions

Cory Woron is saying the Moore to Chicago rumor is untrue.

by John Beatty on Mar 4, 2009 1:50 PM EST up reply actions

I wonder if we’re going to make any trades, other than Bo.

If Bo goes it’ll be at like 2:59pm.

by coasterg on Mar 4, 2009 1:41 PM EST reply actions

Thanks ...

I’m not in a position to contribute, but I can actually look every 15..30 minutes or so. Thanks for posting — what’s posted here is as good as anywhere else.

by OldDave on Mar 4, 2009 1:45 PM EST reply actions

I’m only getting away with it because it’s spring break. Otherwise there would be too much going on for me to be streaming TSN all day.

by John Beatty on Mar 4, 2009 1:47 PM EST up reply actions

apparently that moore to chicago deal was a bit presumptive by NHL live.

by Stanley C. on Mar 4, 2009 1:51 PM EST reply actions

FINALLY…

Foppa will retire. At least we won’t hear about him anymore

by Donny Rivette on Mar 4, 2009 1:52 PM EST reply actions

The whole “will he play or not” thing got old three years ago, but best of days ahead to him

by Donny Rivette on Mar 4, 2009 1:53 PM EST up reply actions

The TSN reasoning is a bit off though.

I think there’s a few suitors for Bo so we’re waiting for the last, best, desperate offer.

by coasterg on Mar 4, 2009 1:55 PM EST up reply actions

Slow day...

TSN is reporting that the Oilers’ practice is over.

No end to the details.

by Donny Rivette on Mar 4, 2009 1:59 PM EST up reply actions

question: how does the waivers work for the nhl? if two teams both wanted morrison lets say, what determines whcih team gets that player?

by wiscopantherfan on Mar 4, 2009 2:03 PM EST reply actions

i think it goes in reverse standings order… so if florida wanted someone, but the islanders also did, they’d get first pick… I think, don’t quote me though.

by Stanley C. on Mar 4, 2009 2:04 PM EST up reply actions

Yes. That’s how it works. Teams lay claim before the expiration and the one lowest in the standings gets him.

by John Beatty on Mar 4, 2009 2:08 PM EST up reply actions

wonder what pitt gave up… assuming that deal is actualy done.

by Stanley C. on Mar 4, 2009 2:03 PM EST reply actions

conditional draft pick – 5th round pick unless Pitt wins a round in the playoffs; then it’s a third-round

by John Beatty on Mar 4, 2009 2:07 PM EST up reply actions

I was just thinking that. Guerin coulda fit in well here, gritty guy, never afraid to grind out the ugly goal, a CENTER… hmmmm.

I’m not sure I understand a potential Chris Neil move. He isn’t a scorer, isn’t a center, hasn’t played in a month… unless it’s for a 5th round pick or something, I don’t see a reason to make a move for him.

And got a young team to start over with.

Dominic Moore to Buffalo

for second round pick (Carolina’s)

by John Beatty on Mar 4, 2009 3:08 PM EST reply actions

Oh, that. Right now, it’s Carolina who have to worry about the Sabres. I’m worried about the Rangers and Penguins getting back on track.

colby armstrong to anaheim

by wiscopantherfan on Mar 4, 2009 3:12 PM EST reply actions

Erik for Eric

That’s Christensen (Anaheim) for O’Dell (Atlanta)

My computer’s down to a crawl…

I’m not going to headline Bouw staying until it’s official, and there’s been no official announcement. The Herald, Sentinel, and Post are all holding back from headlining it

They acknowledge that the deadline has passed, and it APPEARS Jay remains with the club…just being careful

All three locals are awaiting a press conference by JM at any time, according to Richards

Actually, Welch and a third-round pick. Eminger gets another change of address this season, but he’s not moving far this time.

for sure?

I can’t say that’s a bad deal for the Panthers. I was a bit worried when they sent Boynton home because I knew that meant Welch was playing.

by John Beatty on Mar 4, 2009 3:34 PM EST up reply actions

completly agree on that

Gave up on him already. Wow. Eminger was a beast in Washington, tho

by Donny Rivette on Mar 4, 2009 3:33 PM EST reply actions

He’s brutalizing Lightning management. The golf clap? That was just mean!

Restarting my machine…back in a flash…still waiting for news on Bouw

by Donny Rivette on Mar 4, 2009 3:52 PM EST reply actions

What? All I heard was about this three-way deal between LA, Carolina and Edmonton. They’re still trying to figure out the details.

by John Beatty on Mar 4, 2009 3:56 PM EST up reply actions

It’s a pair of deals. Ultimately, Carolina gets Erik Cole back in return for Justin Williams, LA gets Williams, Edmonton gets Patrick O’Sullivan. And there’s apparently some picks in there somewhere as well.

by John Beatty on Mar 4, 2009 4:01 PM EST up reply actions

STILL can’t get confirmation of Jay’s status. Nothing on the website, and the locals remain unable to fully commit. Spooky.

by Donny Rivette on Mar 4, 2009 4:09 PM EST reply actions

I need to stop obsessively refreshing Richards’ blog waiting for news of JM’s press conference.

by John Beatty on Mar 4, 2009 4:12 PM EST up reply actions

Granted, this is a no-transaction transaction, but still…the world awaits official word

by Donny Rivette on Mar 4, 2009 4:14 PM EST up reply actions

Confirmation that there wasn’t a last-second deal faxed into headquarters…

by John Beatty on Mar 4, 2009 4:14 PM EST up reply actions

That should work out. Richards thinks The Beach and Steve will split games. So, they can share.

by John Beatty on Mar 4, 2009 4:30 PM EST up reply actions

It is kinda limited, but I’ve waited a long time for someone to point it out!

It’s the simple things…

by Donny Rivette on Mar 4, 2009 4:51 PM EST up reply actions

I give up

They’re not going to announce anything for a while. Maybe they’re dealing with their personnel issues before they make any proclamations.
