Ottawa Sun: Panthers had two significant offers for Bouwmeester
"Looking for two players, a prospect and a draft pick, NHL sources say Martin resisted offers from the Philadelphia Flyers and Vancouver Canucks at the deadline. Instead, the Panthers will make a concerted effort to try and sign Bouwmeester before he becomes an unrestricted free agent on July 1."

Regret?
If we fail to sign JBo, how much will we see trading him as a missed oppertunity
As long as the playoffs are achieved (even one round), the increased local interest, combined with increased ad revenue and ticket package sales, the Panthers will have made the correct (non)move.
As fans we all see the direction Martin and DeBoer are taking with this club; they’re not going to be allowed to fall apart next season if he leaves.
My two cents…

True. Since December I think the cats have really turned it around under DeBoer. I truly believe we could have made the playoffs without Bo but I guess the team chemistry was the huge issue. And with that logic, if Bo is not CRITICAL to team success, I guess he can be replaced if he chooses to leave. It would have been nice to secure 2-3 prospects for him though
Mike Gillis inquired about JayBo but the conversation wasn’t all that long. Gillis was not going to give DeBoer what he wanted. Nor should he. The Canucks are rolling as a team, and they don’t have a deep farm system.
We also have the same issue as you guys do with losing a marquee defenceman in the summer. You want to get value for him before he hits free agency….but why cough him up when your team is in the playoff hunt and can make some noise?
Very similar situations, indeed. And both clubs did what was necessary: stay the course.
