USA Today: Panthers goaltender Craig Anderson "declines" role on U.S. team in World Championships
"It's a tough decision. Last year my linemate was Jeff Halpern and he tore out an ACL and he wasn't back until Christmas. And I don't have a contract right now, so there's really no guarantee. So I've kind of got to be careful that way."
W4E say: The "business" of hockey is truly rearing its' head. Playing for your country has simply lost the lustre once bequeathed it. First Booth (considering skipping the event), and now Andy. Get used to it, hockey fans; this isn't the eighties anymore. And no disrespect to Anderson or Booth is meant; they are following in the footsteps of a recent line of great players from all NHL clubs bowing out of international tournaments for fear of injury. Just ask the Senators about The Dominator, circa 2006.

Maybe it’s because one is going to be a RFA & the other an UFA & don’t want an injury to hinder any kind of contract with the Panthers or any other organization that might sign them, IMO
I meant to also add that if both were already signed to contracts, it just might be a different story…..
then lets get em signed!!!!!
