Camden-Courier Post: Freighter-load of Philly assets for Anderson, Bouwmeester negotiating rights?
Sounds ridiculous but here's the speculation:
The Flyers may try to package the likes of forwards Joffrey Lupul, Danny Briere and James van Riemsdyk, defenseman Ryan Parent and/or a first-round draft pick in a deal for the rights to Panthers' defenseman Jay Bouwmeester and Anderson.
Just for the rights.
That's a heckuva lot. Briere's a salary dump, and probably on his way out of town regardless (and we'll see how ironclad that NTC is). Lupul has been an integral piece of every Flyers rumor since the day he was acquired. Parent is expendable due to the (potential) addition of Bouw. Forward (and second overall pick in '07) van Riemsdyk - not to mention the draft pick - are the true gems.
No matter what, there's always going to be a small but loud contingent declaring any deal a failure.

Briere’s good, but way overpaid. $8mil next year, $7mil for the next three. Lupul has the potential to be another Olesz. That is, makes in the mid $4mils, might turn out to be really good, might turn out to be way overpaid. That said, a two first line combo of Horton-Briere-Frolik and Booth-Weiss-Lupul might get things done a little better than last year’s top two. (Potential third and fourth lines: Stillman-Campbell-Dvorak/Peltonen/McLean-Kreps-Olesz). That would give us Ballard-Allen/McCabe-Eminger/Parent-Skrastins? on the backend, with Garrison and Ellerby in Rochacha.
I can think of worse deals, but we’d need a backup goaltender, and I’d rather see a Jeff Carter-type player coming in than Briere. Can we pry Simon Gagne out of their hands?
