As Panthers fans await new Third Jersey, speculation begins

If your eyes are open, one can a learn a lot on the HF Boards. Regular readers of the top hockey-related bulletin-board know a single quick visit can bring a laugh, a belch, or a more likely both due to the irreverence of the humor and a boatload of horrible trade proposals.

Once in a while, something you run across can be stirring, and it's this forum which excels at being a sounding board for items like the following:

Florida-panthers-jersey_medium

Not the real deal, but it's a quality photoshop providing insight into what may be hanging at the team store come October.

Based upon shared information from our friends at the Miami Herald, this creation (an excellent image from HF'er Pavel13...if not please correct me!) fairly closely fits the description in the Herald, minus "dark blue at the bottom".

Wildjersey

Yes, given it's basis it remains far too similar to Minnesota's popular logo-surrounded-by-wordmark for actual use by another club, but the color combination and basic layout is not bad. Not bad at all. Taken to more of an extreme we might have something unique and classic. And get that blue on the bottom.

Any other designs floating around? With no playoffs, we'll post up just about anything here, short of Rod Brind'Amour shoving the Stanley Cup over his head. Again.

Blue stripe(s) would be sweet

Dear Gary and RBK (vowels not included) bastards:

Please bring back horizontal hem stripes.

Sincerely,
pre-EDGE hockey fan

Lighthouse Hockey: Side effects may include Weight gain and frequent game loss.

Are the “Edge System” unis still the “Edge System” unis we were inundated with two years ago? I mean, after the outpouring of hatred about moisture buildup from the players, I thought some changes were made. Gonna have to look into that.

And I’m with you on the stripes. Some things just don’t get old.

As long as it's not...

like the Ottawa or Tampa third jerseys. I think I would give up rooting for the Panthers and hang myself if the new sweater has “CATS” on the front.

Score. Those really are hideous, and in my opinion reflect a genuine lack of creativity. “A nod to the fans” is the official word. BS. They’re ugly and insulting.

I like the color scheme TB’s got, but other than that, blah.

I hear ya on that one....

…..people might think we are promoting the broadway show & not the team :-P

A well-placed source I know says the new thirds aren’t going to be red. Nor are they looking at a circular logo. And, you might very well see “Florida” or “Cats” diagonally across the third sweater.

"Florida" is OK...

as long as it’s done in the same manner as the 90’s Penguins jersey with “PITTSBURGH” across the front with Panther head shoulder logos (or even just the claw), and gold trim, c’mon now, enough with the yellow, unless you’re the Bruins or the Blues, it’s not a hockey color. Just like our fellow class of 93’ team the Mighty Ducks (sorry, just Ducks), I hope we reinvent our identity into one of a formidable opponent that can (and will) contend for the cup year after year.

See, a classic design like that would be nice. So, it will never happen. We’ll end up with some monstrosity like the ones above, or the Thrashers third.

The Rangers had a 3rd Jersey that just said New York on them?

I like the design
