AHL Rochester Americans: five game dates set in stone

Opponents and start times for these games will be announced when the complete 2009-10 American Hockey League schedule is released this summer
W4E say: not sure I've ever witnessed this brand of scheduling previously. Five home "games" announced, minus opposing teams. Hmm. Tradition perhaps? If anyone can help with an explanation please leave it in the comments.

Home Games
The full schedule with opponents isnt released until later in the summer but now is about the time that teams start picking guaranteed home dates and then more is built around those. I’m sure this happens with just about every league. Given the lack of news, this is what makes news in May.
