BOS - TOR Rumor

TSN: Bob McKenzie says the Bruins offered RFA Phil Kessel and a draft pick (not the first rounder) for Tomas Kaberle.

by Donny Rivette on Jun 26, 2009 2:57 PM EDT reply actions

First interesting rumor of the day

This has to be too much to hope for, right?

Bouwmeester to Calgary for Cammilleri and a mid-round pick… Cat Scratch

by Stanley C. on Jun 26, 2009 3:18 PM EDT reply actions

Sounds a bit steep. Bouw would have to sign immediately. So would Cammy for us to take the bait.

by Donny Rivette on Jun 26, 2009 3:25 PM EDT up reply actions

Ya, the only reason it raised my eyebrows is that those western canadian teams are probably high on Bo’s list, so it might be done. Then again, I can’t imagine Phaneuf and Bouwmeester on the same roster. Who knows, but it’s fun to dream

by Stanley C. on Jun 26, 2009 3:31 PM EDT up reply actions

I would have no clue how the Flames could fit that one under the cap. I guess they might opt to play with 16 or 17 players on their roster again?

by HockeyOutsiders on Jun 26, 2009 4:06 PM EDT up reply actions

Thanks W4E. George Richards just posted On Frozen Pond saying he talked to someone claiming Bo to Calgary… interesting…

by Stanley C. on Jun 26, 2009 4:05 PM EDT reply actions

just read somewhere of possibly Gagne to the Cats for his rights? hopefully any of these rumors are true because it seems as if the price is rising quickly thanks to all the teams interested. maybe JM won’t look so stupid after all….

btw, im jeff. im new here but will be here often, and really aren’t that new.

you should always post a link or else you just come off like eklund (haha) unless of course you are eklund.

by HockeyOutsiders on Jun 26, 2009 5:02 PM EDT up reply actions

I’m just hoping we deal those rights and get the right return.

And I wish I was at the Draft Party, instead I’m at home in Melbourne where the only ice hockey discussions are at the iceplex a few miles down the road.

by coasterg on Jun 26, 2009 5:04 PM EDT reply actions

Latest off of Twitter, George Richards reporting a rumor that Bou may not be traded after all, will not sign until after 7/1 anyways.

Sheesh – there’s a sucker bet. Trade those rights already, he’s not going to sign with the Panthers, its a string-along.

by coasterg on Jun 26, 2009 5:21 PM EDT reply actions

i hope George is wrong, that would be terrible news after all the build up today…just like the deadline day was. i saw that rumor on eklunds site, indeed, but it wasn’t from him. it was one of the panther’s bloggers, spiegel or something?

by alterego6487 on Jun 26, 2009 5:35 PM EDT reply actions

All I know if JayBo pulls this stunt I’m hoping that it stains his reputation and invokes some serious bad karma as well.

I’m extremely po’d right now.

by coasterg on Jun 26, 2009 5:41 PM EDT reply actions

well we know jay won’t be going to Philly eklund and panthers twitter reporting ducks trade pronger there.

The folks up in Calgary have been obsessed with Bouw since this time last year. They claim he wants to go there because, according to info (which hasn’t been verified to my knowledge) he has a serious girlfriend there and is building a house there as well. Several posters on calgarypuck have already figured out the possible cap hits etc. for various scenarios in which they end up with Bouw. Some have been quite smug about it, that’s for sure. Go to that site and search Bouwmeester and you’ll see what I mean. Hi Whale and everyone…wish I could join you but you"re over an hour away. Have fun and keep the fatih. Bo? Schmoe.

by sydarm on Jun 26, 2009 7:47 PM EDT reply actions

Did J-Bo really publicly say he wouldn’t talk about a contract until July 1? If so… what a DICK. Is he really just trying to screw the franchise here?

by Rob Parker on Jun 26, 2009 8:07 PM EDT reply actions

Jay Bo rumored to have been dealt, but can’t find anything more on it other than the quick blip On Frozen Pond… pins and needles!

by Stanley C. on Jun 26, 2009 8:15 PM EDT reply actions

I’ll keep checking the Calgary board. Bahhhhh.

by sydarm on Jun 26, 2009 8:17 PM EDT reply actions

This has got to be the most boring draft ever….

by drscruf on Jun 26, 2009 8:21 PM EDT reply actions

lol, what would you call an “exciting” draft? Granted, there’s been just the 1 big deal, and a bunch of picks swapped between Columbus and the Islanders, but a draft is a draft, an OWG in a suit reading names, lol…

by Stanley C. on Jun 26, 2009 8:24 PM EDT up reply actions

Jay Bouwmeester is a mumbling idiot.

by milhouse on Jun 26, 2009 8:24 PM EDT reply actions

Truthfully, I was expecting a little more yip-yap about the impending free-agents, including our J-Boo. It just seems like all the picks follow the “chalk”

by drscruf on Jun 26, 2009 8:29 PM EDT reply actions

The “Bouw says he won’t sign till July 1st” is from Elliotte Friedman. Can’t get it to link. Don’t even know if it’s an actual quote from Bouw there anyway.Does he even know how to talk?

by sydarm on Jun 26, 2009 8:58 PM EDT reply actions

nice pick guys

they talk about the KHL and contracts and stuff, but i’m willing to bet, if you’re an 18-yo kid, the prospect of spending winters in Miami is pretty damn enticing. especially if the alternative is somewhere in siberia.

Cat Scratch

Pretty happy with Kulikov falling to the Panthers. Should be a good lookin, top 4 D-man in a short time.

by Stanley C. on Jun 26, 2009 10:19 PM EDT reply actions

Well he is good looking, at least from a puck bunny standpoint. Just kidding. I’m pretty happy too. Bo who?

by sydarm on Jun 26, 2009 10:34 PM EDT reply actions

tough to judge last night. solid pick, absolutely. but sexton saying “no rush on bouwmeester” certainly back fired and in my opinion lost him the opportunity for the GM spot. clearly there were offfers for Jay at the start of Friday and probably right up until the draft started. then he and his agent decided to come out and say there would be no contract until july 1 no matter what, essentially taking away any value we could get for him. now there’s nothing. if we weren’t so patient we could have cashed in with SOMETHING, either lupul or cammalieri or SOMETHING (heck, even a sixth round draft pick would have been ok.) but now there’s nothing. i can’t wait to see JayBo in the BAC next year, he has lost all respect from me and i hope he fails miserably on his new team. as for sexton, your audition failed.

by alterego6487 on Jun 27, 2009 9:46 AM EDT reply actions

Bye bye JayBo – Welcome Jordan Leopold and a 3rd round pick.

Thank you JayBo for all of the drama you created over the past few months.

Despite that good luck in Calgary, don’t let the press get to you – sure they’ll be living on your lawn and following wherever you go but that’s the Canadian “elite” hockey player lifestyle.

by coasterg on Jun 27, 2009 10:33 AM EDT reply actions

i guess i spoke too soon, as it now seems as if sexton stole this deal, assuming we sign leopold. still not what we were expecting, but at least jay didn’t just walk. anyone know when calgary comes to the BAC?? gotta get my tickets now. he’s gonna get a warm welcome…

by alterego6487 on Jun 27, 2009 10:50 AM EDT reply actions

Bouwmeester and Olli reunited… how sweet. Can’t wait for them to come back to the BAC… I’m sure everyone will be nothing but polite… lol

IF Leopold signs here, great move getting something for Bo by Sexton. Could have been a lot worse had he walked for nothing next week.

by Stanley C. on Jun 27, 2009 11:42 AM EDT up reply actions

if we sign Leopold, our D should be set… but we are still in some serious need of an effective goal scorer. If someone to the likes of Camalleri walks, I do not oppose to showing him some big money.
