Congrats to Team USA for blowing it again. No Keith Ballard? Really? He’s better than half of the D they invited. I can’t tell you how much that squad upsets me. I’m sure Rob Scuderi and his “great” post-season (He held Ovechkin to only 2 points a game!!!) are going to be the answer against all the high power offenses we are going to face. Unconscionable.

But great for David Booth. I’m happy for him and looking forward to seeing what he can do with an elite player or two on his line.

I noticed the ommission as well, Fehr. Thought it was quite the backhand.

Maybe Brian Burke and Ron Wilson are harboring some ill-will from their Pacific Division days. It makes absolutely no sense to me. Ballard may still be a work in progress but he can skate, hit, and move the puck. I don’t see why you wouldn’t invite him to take a look. It’s not like that group that was invited is so good that taking a look at Ballard would be a waste of time. This really upsets me.

He’s ready. They were playing favorites. Scuderi will be forgotten in 12 months…but he’ll have an Olympic gig.

Olympic gig and a huuuuge contract. He is about to seriously get overpaid. I don’t get it, he’s at best a 4th Dman on a Cup team (most definitely a team that was NOT carried by their D) and now he’s awesome. Ballard has been playing top 4 minutes since his days back in PHX and is going to play top pair minutes starting next year. EVERY single D on the other contending countries (except maybe a couple guys from Russia) is going to be a top 4 D in the NHL; top pair D if we are talking Canada. I don’t care how reliable the guy was you can’t go up against those line-ups with 5-7 NHL D.

Congrats to Booth!
