Bird Watchers Anonymous: Former Panther Anthony Stewart courted by Atlanta?
At which point does an entire league finally throw in the towel on a first-round bust?

Do you happen to know if Rick Dudley was there when FLA drafted him? Perhaps that explains this ATL interest?

Behold, Falconer:
One of the bigger busts (of the 2003 draft) was later in that first round with the selection of Anthony Stewart. But in Dudley’s defense, he has/had all the intangibles of a bruising, scoring forward (similar to what he saw in Dustin Byfuglien). But it never happened, as it hasn’t for the vast majority of all draft picks ever.
Duds wasn’t there to see much of Stewie’s development…he was gone less than a year later.

Forgot the link, and it’s a fine article by Dan Spiegel. Got to look for more of his stuff.

Too long, apparently. It’s okay…he found another hobby.

Better them than us
He got his chance here and didn’t make much of it. He looked like he’d given up completely by the end of last season. I saw the practice before the last game. He and Tarnasky were out last, obviously off the night’s roster, but Tarnasky was still skating hard while Stewart played the whole practice like he wished he was somewhere else. Tarnasky, of course, was the one on the roster that night when Pelts couldn’t play.
