Are the Panthers in the process of covertly adopting a new logo?

 From Icethetics:

There's a question that's been nagging at me for a few weeks now. I want to see what the rest of you think. Are the Florida Panthers in the process of covertly adopting a new logo?

I noticed recently that the Panthers' official web site was redesigned to feature a legless panther logo in the banner. See the following graphic.

Complete article.

Any word if this is happening?  Doesn't seem too radical an alteration.

Noticed the “legless” Panther a few weeks ago myself, and my thoughts were the same as those at Icethetics. Great pickup, WpgMikos!

I don’t think it’s anything new… I seem to remember a patch on my backpack in middle school with a “legless” panther… I’ve noticed it a few places here and there… again, I think.

there’s also this one that I KNOW has been around awhile with the Panther holding a broken stick.

I, too, think that it was just a reworking of the banner & am pretty sure I have seen other things with the top half of the panther only. But, if they did use that, I’d be fine with it.

There are very few things in this organization that do not require any tinkering whatsoever… The logo is one of them… We have one of the coolest logos in all of sports, and there is simply no need to start monkeying around with it. Leave it alone.

The only change I’d like to see someday is the leaping panther holding the Stanley Cup between it’s paws…

Now THAT would be awesome, Murphy!

I really like our current logo. But, as a 3rd jersey option (half of the panther, that is) I’d be okay with that.

I agree that having a different logo on the 3rds would be nice.

Our 3rd will have the Panther’s face in the center of a circle on the front, with the word “Florida” around the top, and the word “Panthers” around the bottom.

Sounds kind of generic, IMO. And, didn’t Gorten drop the word that it’s two shades of blue (?). Ugh…. If this is true, I’ll be keeping my $$$ in my pocket….

i found this on the web store… never seen this claw design before

I’ve seen the “claw” as a secondary logo on the back of two hats I have. Also the front of one is the legless panther, as for the other…

You might have seen it before, Andy used to wear it when he wasn’t playing.

Puckdaddy Comments Section

From Puckdaddy’s comments section on his link to the “new” logo query:

“The logo is appropriate. The franchise hasn’t had legs to stand on in years.”

Funny, sad and true.
