VIDEO: Kulikov collision with Green
Lousy quality, but here's the Panthers' Dmitry Kulikov and his "hit" late in the second period on Washington's Mike Green, via Kukla's Korner. And a word of warning: turn the volume down...no play-by-play on this one.

Not a chance on “intent”…the movement of Kuli’s leg into Green was strictly instinctive and a defensive move.
Of course not.
But you could say the same of Ovechkin’s two-game-suspension hit, too.
I need a snappy signature...

A lot more politicing going on with that one.

yeah, that was really no worse than what Ovechkin did to either Sergei (whoop whoop whoop) Gonchar or Tim Gleason. Green saw the hit coming, turned to move out of the way and got caught on the knee, same as the aforementioned incidents. What surprised me is that not even a minor penalty was doled out. Intent only matters in terms of suspensions and fines—not penalties. Did he do it on purpose? no. Should he have gone to the box? yes.
Accident.
No real hate for Kulikov here. The caps nation will forgive him, it really wasn’t a dirty play, just terrible end result.
They laughed at Columbus, they laughed at Fulton, they laughed at the Wright brothers. But they also laughed at Bozo the Clown.
Clean hit, unfortunate result, nothing to see here.
Green’s elbow on the other hand…he should get two games to reflect on the matter.
Good effort last night by the cats. They worked hard but literally caught zero breaks. Thought they deserved to win.
Good luck the rest of the way.
