For the heck of it, I was discussing the Lighting with a friend who's a big Sabres/Lightning fan. He's convinced that if the Bolts had competent goaltending, that they could be a serious cup contender, but are going to be a in serious trouble without one.
My offer to him was Vokoun for Brett Connolly, Tampa's first round pick this past year, current Lightning starter Dan Ellis and a future 1st or second round pick. To me, that benefits Tampa greatly this season and gives the Cats a serviceable goalie for the remainder of the year to split time with Clemmer, cheapens the payroll and gets us another high-end offensive draft prospect - someone who was a wild-card for the Panthers to take over Gudbrandson. It's a fair deal, even with a division rival (and for whatever reason the Cats have a history of trading with the Lightning).
Open the floor for that one...or other suggestions.
