Puck Daddy: "End of the Panthers"...the losing kind
The owners have now set the bar for this team at nothing less than sustained contention for the playoffs, and asked that judgment not be passed on their efforts until the process is completed. It's as bold a statement as we've seen from an NHL owner; will the fans offer their patience and cash during it?

I see what they are doing as a low-risk, high reward type move. The owners have already invested millions in this team. Building through trades or free agency seems almost impossible these days with the cap, etc. They probably think their best chance at getting a return on their investment is to build from a first division club from the ground up.
If they are smart, they can keep a team of similar quality to this one on the ice by shuffling in some old vets while they trade away the present group of players (save Kulikov) and use astute scouting and player development to build an awesome team. Easier said than done, I know.
Well, all things considered, this is the first time Panthers ownership has admitted to a “rebuild”, so anything’s possible.
I’m excited about it, honestly.
