Sun-Sentinel: Panthers GM Sexton says "No Fire-Sale" on Wednesday

"(Randy Sexton) said he doesn’t feel like has to make a certain number of deals by Wednesday. He also said he wants y’all to know that the trade deadline is just the beginning of his plans when it comes to changing the makeup of the roster."

So in other words… when he balks at the numerous offers coming his way and the only deal done is a guy in Rochester for a 4th round pick, we shouldn’t be worried because his real plan starts in June?

Still not sold on Sexton being a long-term solution on GM…

He’s just saying he won’t do a deal for the sake of doing a deal.

Firstly, I’m glad he makes comments like this because it shows he’s smart enough not to let the media know what he’s doing.
And no one is going to rebuild a team at the trade deadline.

Anyway, I’m getting anxious to see some Pathers hockey again.

Florida

has only been slightly involved at the last two trading deadlines if I remember correctly. Two years ago they traded Salei for Skrastins and last year it was Welch for Eminger. Am I forgetting anything?

I’m not surprised. They can make sure that they tank with this current lot of players. Hopefully, Sexton can pull off at least getting three additional draft picks for the 2010 draft. Panthers have failed at building through free agency, so why not, build through the draft.
