We have lines of guys who haven't scored in 15 games. It's tough. The only way to fix that is through free agency in the summer.
Pete DeBoer with the undeniable Quote of the Night winner, following Florida's 13-shot, 2-1 home loss to Calgary on Friday.

I think the blame for this season so far has to be shared by everyone, Pete and the coaching staff have not done a good job, the players have not done a good job and neither has Sexton. Our system isnt working, Sexton seems content with the status quo and the players only show up half the time. And now Pete publicly states that he’s lost faith in his players, I hope he just made that quote to light a fire because if he has honestly lost faith in his players then they’ll do the same with him and the season is certainly over.
Pete has been telling the players for the last 2 years that they arent good and that they have to play this system, now his system isnt working and he blames the players. After watching a game it really makes you wonder what Pete does in practice, he certainly doesn’t use the time to steer his players towards any sort of coordination whatsoever.
His system isn’t working because the players don’t work. No one wants to go win a battle in the corner. No one wants to get beat up in front of the net and fight for a rebound. How many 2 on 1’s have we had where we don’t get a shot on net because a) everyone thinks they can make the perfect little pretty dainty pass and b) we can’t hit an open net if the pass actually works. DeBoer’s system works if the players do the work.
The players are all pros. They can play. I am convinced that Pete’s system only works in the Jr. Hockey leagues, not the pros. These guys need “real time” coaching during the games not some system that, to me looks like “wild” uncontrolled play. Even no system is “A System” and thats what we have. How much longer are we going to have to live with JM’s legacy of coaching? At a minimum, Petre should have brought in a new coaching staff instead of inheriting JM’s legacy people. The power play coach needs to go today. Our power plays are unrecognizable as power plays. they know we are not going to shoot at the net from the blue line and come out to challenge use without fear. I wish we could not accept power play penalties like football. We are better 5 on 5.
