the true barometer of this season: Carolina, who is in shambles, is now only one point behind us and holders of more wins. there is nothing left for this season, so Randy needs to get what he can now.
a shame we’ll probably see the last of Seidenberg, as he’s a player i think could really help by being around for the long haul, totally underrated and a great sign by Sexton this summer. there has been lots of talk, but besides Reinprecht (who he got for virtually nothing), i think Sexton has done pretty well thus far with his hands tied. today will go a long way to see if he should be the man to steer this rebuild.
one other thought: would love to see T-Vo and Markstrom in net next year, so lets get Clemmers off the bench, he looked uncomfortable yet again last night. too bad no one wants him.
CAR will make the playoffs if they keep Whitney. But they won’t.

i agree, but what happens if/when we trade T-Vo? we get a Huet-type in return to mind the net next season also along with Markstrom? i think a T-Vo trade sets us back for next year also, unless we get a solid goalie in return…

i think we need to give him a chance…we haven’t really seen him work yet and at least he was honest enough to call the scoring issue “f—king brutal”….thats honesty you don’t see out of GM’s or Front Office Figureheads in sports very often.

and what kind of rebuild are we talking about? 1,2 or 5 years?
—-they were discussing that on TSN in regards to the Leafs, and they seemed to be certain the Leafs need quite a few more years to fix their mess
Well, they did sign Seidenberg. And I think Skoula got dropped because they decided Kulikov was going to play, which I think was the right decision. I wasn’t sure at the time, but he’s been developing well here even with all of the problems.

Oh yeah. I think that was when they realized the coaching staff wasn’t too big on Koistenen. But Skoula I believe was originally let go in favor of Kulikov. They weren’t sure at camp if he was going to make the team, so they brought in Backman and Skoula as backup.
And don’t forget, he’s only played 33 games for Pittsburgh. It’s not like we let a gem go.

Twitter says Seidenberg may go. But that’s nothing new. Also supposedly LA is interested in Ray Whitney. Not that that involves the Panthers.

Clem bashing after his 6-5 performance against Dallas and 7-4 against Washington. Not to mention that game he gave up two goal in two minutes early this season.

apparently lots of talk on Stillman, says twitter. i wish we could throw Kreps in on one of these deals.
also, does this deadline kill Rochester’s playoffs hopes?
No it does not. Panthers picked up two forwards today. It is possible that Repik could be returned to Rochester. Rochester can also pick up another defenseman since the next game is not till Friday.
ok good, though i want Repik in the big leagues. i think he’s got the goods, but needs the ice time in the NHL.

Bad move by both Panthers and Hawks if this does not happen. Vokoun is worth more now, last season he faded at the end of the season.
we must have wanted too much from CHI, they should be jumping on Vokoun. credit Sexton for not taking a cheap deal though, if that’s the case….there are far worse things then keeping T-Vo now and through next year.

love him or hate him, he’s a winner plain and simple.
Sure he’s a winner, but people forget the level of talent that existed before him, and will likely exist after him. He shouldn’t be touted as the end all be all of hockey like he is.
agreed, but he and Ovechkin are by far the best players in the league in my opinion. and i put Ovi ahead.

I watch the Caps play all the time. Ovie is a great player, but not a leader and seems to act like a “kid”. He needs to grow up a bit. He also did not play very well for team Russia, and was a nonfactor.In fact, the CAPS played just as well without him on the team and play better defensively.
Ovie is not even close to the caliber as Crosby in a team environment. When Ovie decided to grow up, the Caps will be completely unstoppable. Until then, Ovie will be second in the NHL no matter what his STATS are.

Maybe, but it’s not like half the players we cheer for on a regular basis aren’t from the big cold north…
which is why we need more hockey programs in the US. I know that if and when I have children, I’m going to get them into hockey early. Maybe in 25 years or so, it’ll be a more even ratio.

Big time sore losers but that’s when everyone should worry. They always get better after they lose…..Most of the coaches and staff of the previous Olympic team are going to be gone, I would not be surprised if they hire a former NHL coach to build the next Olympic team. There are already plenty of former NHL coaches in the KHL (although, most are awful).
