Florida Panthers in IIHF World Championship - Monday Results

Stay connected for news and updates

Only one Panther hit the ice today, with an unfortunately familiar outcome.

  • DEN 2, USA 1 (OT):  American goaltender Scott Clemmensen (27 saves) was again given little offensive support at Lanxess Arena as Team USA (0-2) heads into Wednesday's basically all-or-nothing game against Finland. In overtime, Clemmer made the initial stop on Denmark's (2-0) Stefan Lassen, who moments later collected his own rebound for the winner. Keith Yandle scored for the Americans.
  • CAN 6, LAT 1:  Team Canada assistant coach Pete DeBoer saw his troops grab their second win of the tournament behind four powerplay goals to topple Latvia (0-2). Mark Giordano and John Tavares each scored twice while Corey Perry notched four assists.

So is this it for Florida's Clemmensen in the tourney? Backstopping an offensively-challenged club isn't a novel experience for our boy, but some immediate help from the forward corps woud be nice about now.
