Sources: G Jacob Markstrom signs with Florida Panthers

Sources close to the Swedish Elite League informed LitterBoxCats.com on Friday evening that Panthers goaltending prospect Jacob Markstrom - whom many observers consider the best netminder currently outside the NHL - has signed a 3-year entry-level contract with Florida. Details of the deal have not been disclosed.
Markstrom - fresh off a bronze medal in the recently concluded IIHF World Championship in Germany - is a second round selection (31st overall) by Florida in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, and is widely viewed as the Panthers' "future" in net.
This was an expected development, as GM Dale Tallon recently stated he and Markstrom's agent were speaking regularly. More to follow soon.
UPDATES:
- Sweden's Sport Bladet has jumped in with a comment from Jacob on Saturday: "It feels great, nice to get it (cleared up) and it is a dream come true."
- Elite Prospects has gone so far as to place Markstrom on Rochester's 2010-11 roster, for what that's worth.
- Contract numbers are up at CapGeek.
- And the Cats decided to promote it. Four days later.

As with Tallon's signing,
I don’t see how this can be anything but good news for the “big picture.” But – timing is everything. We shall see if Tallon can really make a miracle happen in Sunrise.
Awesome to hear! With the news from Gorten earlier that they really had until next season I’ll admit I was a little worried.
Yeah, that was a bit of an uncomfortable few moments, but I get the impression that Dale wanted it done as in Priority #1.
