"Unfortunately, the way the (affiliation) contract is made up, Florida has 100 percent say in who's coaching and who's playing. When (Amerks) fans holler, they need to holler loud because the decision-makers are in Florida."

Going waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay out on a very weak limb here, but...
Rochester affiliation lapses while some facet of Panthers organization quietly purchases majority share of (ECHL) Everblades from Carolina. ’Blades slide into AHL for 2011-12.
Just a – ridiculously simplistic – theory.
Not going to happen
That would mean 31 teams in the AHL. Small problem. Now some team has to double-affiliate because AHL rules require each team to be affiliated.
Or was it inferred that Rochester would be OUT of the AHL. That also will not happen.
Please tell me someone in South Florida has any inkling of history of the AHL.
I was implying ROC would seek affiliation with another NHL club, of course remaining in the AHL.

And thanks for clarifying the AHL affiliation rule; I was not aware each club required it. Just thinking aloud without getting into the nuts and bolts of such a fantasyland proposal.
