Gone: Panthers' F Kamil Kreps to Karpat
A pending RFA with five years of service in the Panthers organization, 25 year-old Kamil Kreps has signed with the SM-Liiga's Karpat (Finland).
Highly unlikely to be tendered an offer by Florida - and apparently little interest existed anywhere within the NHL - Kreps should have a far better opportunity to gain quality icetime abroad. From the team's press release (via bizarre translation):
"Many European clubs offered me a contract, but I ended up with carp, because I wanted a good, athletic team, which has the potential to succeed," Kreps says. He notes that it is not been personally satisfied with the last two term in the NHL and wanted therefore to Eurpoe.
Party on!
The former second-round (!) pick in 2003 finishes his Florida career with 18 goals, 42 assists, 60 points, and 71 penalty minutes in 232 NHL games.

Yes… I’m sure that’s exactly how it went… “I’m not happy in Sunrise making more money than I deserve… I absolutely MUST go play in Finland… For less money…”
While not the best player on the ice, I generally appreciated his effort. That being said, I’m glad he’s gone. Personally, no matter who our GM was for the coming season, I simply did not see him returning… OR being traded. This is a good move for all involved. The Panthers free up a slot, Karpat gets a serviceable center, and Kreps gets to continue playing a game for a living.
Yea
Would’ve loved to get him as an assistant here. Dunno how his personality would mesh with Pete’s though.
Agreed; would have made for an interesting pair.

WE’LL MISS YOU KREPS!!!! Great job Panthers, another EXCELLENT QUALITY player(my favorite) gone to Europe..
Won’t get any argument from around here that the guy gave all he had; unfortunately he was in line behind too many prospects hungry for his spot…on a (relatively) bad club. Hoping for nothing but the best for him.
