Sun-Sentinel: Tallon tells Vokoun he has "no interest" in shopping veteran goaltender
From Steve Gorten:
"It's nice to know a little bit where I stand," (goalie Tomas) Vokoun said Tuesday. "As you know, nothing is guaranteed in this business, but at least I know how he feels. I got a whole different feeling from that [conversation] than from my end-of-year meeting with [then-GM Randy Sexton]. …Randy didn't tell me he was going to trade me. But I just wasn't sure."
Doesn't mean other clubs aren't interested. Still, with Tallon claiming Jacob Markstrom will start his season in Rochester, this is not an entirely surprising admission. Got to wonder how this plays in the Clemmensen household. More notes at the link.

The Money Shot
Vokoun said Tallon sent an e-mail to every player on the roster. Tallon said Thursday he had spoken with a half-dozen players and planned on speaking with the rest. In the e-mail, Tallon asked players to let him know if they didn’t want to be a part of this franchise.
Kaboom. We’ll know what their individual answers are by the first week of October.
Crazy. But I can understand why he did it. The last thing this team needs is people who want out. There are plenty of players on the roster who, for whatever reason, want to play here. Build around those guys and get everyone else out of here.
Florida Panthers: Giving the league a punching bag since 2000.
Hard to imagine anyone stepping up and actually saying they didn’t want to be part of the team, although I certainly wouldn’t blame someone like Vokoun if they did. He’s certainly not getting any younger, and this team will probably be rebuilding for a couple more seasons… I don’t know if I’d want to stick around.
That being said, Tallon has shown every indication he fully expects this team to be competitive sooner rather than later. As a fan, fully understanding we’re looking at 2011-2012 realistically, I certainly feel more excited with the potential this offseason than I have in more than a few summers.
TRADE tvo....TRADE tvo...TRADE tvo..........
That’s all we’ve heard from you folks……I’ve been in the minority. …He a TOP goalie in this league and has kept us in games that we had no right being kept in……….If we’[re going to be molded by the great one to be a playoff team…we have to have a GREAT goalie…….Last year for TVO…..some good trades…..more physical presence……scoring……….= Playoffs……….WE NEED TO MAKE THE PLAYOFFS NEXT SEASON…NO MAS EXCUSES……TVO gives us the best chance of achieving that goal and that is the GOAL!…Markie in Rochester next year and up to the Panthers the following year. Good Luck Big T.
Of course we all want them in the postseason but if it happens this year it won’t be by design, imo. We’re looking at a serious re-build, which is fine by me. Plus, FLA has to decide whether Vokoun will be re-signed by next spring; we all know the answer to that, with Clemmer and Markie onboard.
Just want them to get something in return for a valuable asset they have no strategic desire to retain past February.
