SB Nation / 2010 NHL Mock Draft - Florida Panthers select Ryan Martindale at #36
With the 36th overall pick, the Florida Panthers select Ottawa 67's forward Ryan Martindale.
The theme of the Panthers this year is stocking the forwards. With a few good defensive prospects, the Panthers need offense, and in particular need some strength down the middle. Ottawa 67's center Martindale will be a good fit here. A playmaker who can also score goals, Martindale should make it to the AHL quickly and be ready to move up just as Florida's deal with trade-bait Stephen Weiss is expiring.

For me Martindale here is a reach. I think he would definitely be available at No50 and I would not be at all surprised if he fell down to No92
He has the skill of a 1st rounder and the competitiveness of a 7th rounder.
I think Tallon wants to bring in and draft some overachieving attitude rather than underachieving disinterest and unfortunately Martindale falls into the latter.
If he did fall to No92 he could be the steal of the draft though.
OK, you caught me. I really wanted to go for Petr Straka but thought he’d be gone by then and I was working ahead.
