tallon told Duhatschek (sp?) that he couldn’t believe he got McFarland at 33 “i couldn’t believe he was there,” laughing, “it felt like when we got Pat Kane.”

Like the nastiness he brings. I’m pleased.

McFarland was talked about last night and he looked pissed that teams passed up on him in the 1st ...
i mentioned to alot of people how funny it would be the cats draft him in the 2nd so that he can make other teams pay for passing him up lol and boom they picked him…
Tallon spoke to the NHL network and said he knew the 30 top ranked prospects, but not much about the rest. He said he let the scouting staff do the job. That worries me as the scouts do not have a good track record at all.
I wouldn’t agree with that: Robak, Jenks, Markstrom, Frolik, Garrison, Wilson, Comrie, Cheverie…no slouches in there.

True, that. The GMs are likely to make the top picks and defer to the scouting department for the rest. Florida’s problem has been in the first round. Although, really it’s been the environment and the coaching/GM carousel and lack of direction and not the draft picks.
Considering the number of NHL players the team has drafted in the last eight years and the number of our picks who have been traded for decent return (or who could have been if JM wasn’t the GM) they’ve done a pretty good job. It’s not the scouts’ fault that this team has been mismanaged into the ground.
Florida Panthers: Giving the league a punching bag since 2000.
