F Mike Duco, G Tyler Plante sign one-year deals with Panthers
Both are on two-way contracts, along the lines of Kenndal McArdle's "Last Stop till Vegas" deal: low-risk but potentially high reward for both sides.
Curious to see how the goaltending glut works out; beginning to run short on room between Markstrom, Salak, and Plante. Keep in mind, Marc Cheverie remains without a home.
And without question, we've been serious Duco fans for a long while.

DUCO is our Shaun Avery.....
Ever since I saw this guy play 3 years ago in Rochester…..I’ve become a big Mike Duco fan…..He brings an intensity to the ice that NO other Panther has……You gotta love him !
He keeps hanging on; his effort makes him valuable but where does hit fit in? On the big club, I mean? Not that there’s any rush…

I like Mike..
As well, but like Donny said, I just don’t see where he fits in at the moment.
Mike’s game reminds me a lot of a young Arron Asham, which is…considering how long Asham has been an NHL’er…respectable, to say the least.
A follow up to the Asham mention: he’s available

Yeah, and I think there are several teams who are just waiting to see what happens with Kovalchuk before they start making more UFA moves, and then it’ll be like dominos, IMO.
If Asham doesn’t want to play down here, then I might(if I were Tallon) look to Scott Walker as a plan B.
Would have to be at a heroooooically marked-down price. He’s almost 37 and the guy hasn’t played more than 58 games since ’06-07.
That’s all forgetting the Florida surplus at right wing…
