Uncertainty over affiliation could be roadblock in search for new Amerks' coach
From the Democrat and Chronicle's Kevin Oklobzija:
Some outside the (Florida) organization speculate that whoever is hired to coach the Amerks could be considered to be the next Panthers' coach, should the NHL team stumble or miss the playoffs again under current coach Peter DeBoer.
DeBoer was hired by former GM Jacques Martin, worked last season under the most recent former general manager, Randy Sexton, and has no direct ties to Tallon, who was hired in May.
More on the coaching search and Tallon's appearance at next week's U.S. Senior Open above.

Bleh...
DeBoer was given almost no chance to succeed at this level, and had this team playing well above its capabilities at times. It’s a shame he’ll get blamed for the downfalls of the organization (as have so many others), as he’s a very good coach.
Junior League Coach
I hope your right.
I haven’t seen anything yet. His great record and coaching success so far is with kids. He has yet to prove he can motivate and produce an adult winning team. This is the equivalent of a Pony League Baseball coach waking up one day as a Major League coach skipping assistant coaching in the NHL or AHL. If I wanted to rebuild a team that is in the shape the Panthers are I wouldn’t have hired a Jr. Hockey League Coach for the task. He can’t treat millionaire Hockey players like kids.
I hope he proves me wrong.
OHL to NHL was too much too fast for Pete, the team was less coordinated than a dude with 2 lazy eyes last year.
Why not send Pete to Rochester for a while, he’ll learn how to coach adults and then promote him when he’s ready. Hire an NHL calibre coach in the meantime.
Our roster during Pete’s tenure hasn’t been great but that is no excuse, our puck movement and man coverage were despicable last year, you don’t need skilled players for that you just need a coordinated team.
