Are you really that surprised? Ask the casual fan to name one player on our team not named Vokoun. So I’m more surprised we got a game on NBC than the zero we got on VS. At least people who tune in to see hockey on VS do so on purpose. If casual viewer is scrolling through his or her basic cable package and stops on NBC during a hockey game, but he\she hears “Kulikov moves it up to Matthias, Frolik crashes the net with Grabner”….

Just my two cents from someone in the biz… so to speak.

Not surprised in the least. Yet another legacy which must be demolished.

Can't blame 'em......

We aren’t the biggest draw in the league and it is all about $$$$$$$ …. unfortunately for US.

Word on the street says FS Florida will be carrying 72 games; sched coming soon.

Just wait until NBC cancels it.

I think it was the year before last that NBC decided not to air Florida’s sole appearance on their network so that they could instead air a game between someone like Nashville and Pittsburgh.

I will be happy that the Panthers got one of their games televised nationally when I see it actually happen, until then NBC the T.V. overlords still have the possibility of cancelling it.

No, book it Dano. Only way it stays on the air is if the Panthers are in the playoff race, which is highly unlikely this season.

Although if Kovy’s contract comes through, it may still stay. I mean, Parise, Kovy and Brodeur?

“Playoff race” in fourth week of January probably isn’t going to sell the network. Late March against a marketable opponent? Perhaps.

All hail Center Ice! Again.

It wasn’t unexpected, the team is rebuilding. I agree that it is shortsighted, you can’t develop a market without multiple avenues of exposure and FS FL isn’t enough by itself. At least we got 1 NBC game.
