I want to play for the Florida Panthers. I want to play in the NHL. They want me to play as well as I can over here and get here as quick as possible. You don't become a better goalie by sitting on the bench. I want to play in games and I want to win games. That keeps pushing me to be a better goalie. If they tell me to go to Rochester, that's how it is. I'll go there and show them they were wrong.

He continued, “I want to face 50 shots a night, I want to lose 2-1. That’s why I want to be a Panther because they’ll trade me a get fleeced.”
Just kidding, in all seriousness – this is great to hear. Someone who actually wants to play here and wants to take on all comers. That’s EXACTLY the attitude we’ve been missing and it’s a good omen for 2011.
I don’t have any problem with anything he said, even though the interview was translated from a foreign language. Vokoun will be gone this year, either at the deadline or for “negotiating rights” later on, so Markstrom having the confidence to put it all on the line with his statements lets me know as a fan that he sees the writing on the wall, and is ANYTHING but afraid of the future, IMO.
