Blink and you've missed it: Markstrom reassigned to Rochester

Stay connected for news and updates

If that wasn't the sterotypical "cup of coffee" in the NHL, we're not sure what is: Florida Panthers goaltending prospect Jacob Markstrom, likely still dripping from the post-game shower at Prudential Center, has been sent back to the AHL Amerks. The 20 year-old surrendered 2 power play goals - one a 5-on-3 - in his first National Hockey League appearance on Sunday after replacing Scott Clemmensen in an eventual 5-2 loss at the hands of the streaking New Jersey Devils. Evidently Tomas Vokoun is ready for duty.

Reportedly joining Markstrom is defenseman Clay Wilson, perhaps indicating recently injured blueliner Dmitry Kulikov is nearing a return. Florida plays at the Rangers tomorrow.
