Florida Panthers Prospect Roundup: October 1, 2011
Every Friday (or Saturday if there's a game) I will post a quick roundup of the Florida Panthers prospects. So far only two leagues have begun their seasons: the Canadian Junior and European leagues, so expect a larger compilation of stats in the coming weeks. Until then, enjoy this season's inaugural offering after the jump...

Excellent Crooklyn
I will look forward to seeing this on a weekly basis.
One suggestion: Maybe put an (F) or (D) next to the name of the skaters so readers who aren’t quite as familiar with the prospects as others of us will know if the stats are pertaining to a forward or defenseman.
sucks that Sergei Shirokov is tied up in that KHL contract

Birkholz! I like that kid.
I’m putting here for reflection later on in the season…. #14 Tomas [Fleischmann] is getting a 40G season.

Standouts to me...
I want to start off by saying that I think the new culture of this franchise and the fact that they know they need to make a sick impression to make it to the NHL.
Guys that seem to be GETTING IT now:
Josh Birkholz – 5 pts in 3 GP? This is the first time he’s putting up these kinds of numbers. If he can keep up this pace, this will be a huge turning point in his carreer. He might finally be realizing how to utlilize his speed.
Alex Petrovic - Continuing to dominate. ‘Nuff Said. It’s not like we really expected anything less. The only thing that is really important to take out of this is that he’s now putting up the same kind of numbers as last year so far WITHOUT this one kid named Ryan Nugent-Hopkins.
Vincent Trochek – Looks to be backing up all the great hype about him after what looks like a great pick in the draft. He’s starting off his development really well.
John McFarland – Maybe what I’m happiest to see if McFarland finally finding his scoring touch that he’s been so famous for. People have been waiting for this. If he keeps up the scoring and can add on a few assists as well, this could be a huge year for his confidence (which I think is the major thing keeping him back from the NHL). We’ve seen his potential at Rookie Camps, hopefully now he’s taking it and is going to have the year everyone has been expecting from him since he entered juniors.
Woops
Super tired… First sentence was supposed to be:
I want to start off by saying that I think the new culture of this franchise and the fact that they know they need to make a sick impression to make it to the NHL is propelling them to give it there all and play well.
My bad!
Not at all…no worries. Agreed completely on McFarland.
