Florida Panthers Sign Jonathan Huberdeau
Nearly a week after sending him back to Saint John, the Florida Panthers have signed 2011 first-round selection Jonathan Huberdeau to an entry level contract. I ranked Huberdeau as my number one prospect heading into the season, and with another full year in the QMJHL, he'll likely be number one heading into next season as well.
Huberdeau played in five preseason games with the Panthers, finishing tied for the team lead in points (4) and first in goals scored (3).

this also means once the wmjhl season is done, if we’re plagued with injuries and want to, we can call him up for the playoffs. lets hope the playoffs happen and injuries dont, but YAY HUBERDEAU!

They could have signed him to a ATO, like they did with Weiss his first year, that lasts about 10 games.

Or if the Rampage make the playoffs, send him down to give him a taste of winning.

not a bad idea, and would be great for the rampage, a little offensive catalyst for their playoff run. i say gosh damn its good to be a panthers fan right now

Awesome news!
Better yet, the toronto fans will stop saying that we cant sign him or that we are going to trade his rights for Armstrong or whatever…

LOL I hope that was you just making a stereotypical Leafs Fan joke… If that was serious then… I don’t even know what
Nope, we’ve traded him for Steckel (Leafs think it was fair)
I’m putting here for reflection later on in the season…. #14 Tomas [Fleischmann] is getting a 40G season. FLASH COUNT: 0G/1A

people on that board actually think florida would trade a first rounder and huberdeau for luongo… or anyone for luongo… absurdity!

Loungo is capable of causing riots in a city….should be worth a 2nd rounder and extra police…thats it.
Sedins too… Choke city …

We most likely won’t see him called up this season since Saint John’s Sea Dogs are defending Memorial Cup champions and they have a fairly loaded team this year. The Memorial Cup playoffs last well into May.
At his age, I’m sure we’ll be seeing a bigger and more physically mature Huberdeau as the season progresses. More weapons for the arsenal!
