According to the Miami Herald, Booth broke down in tears and left his ex-teammates a message on their grease board. He was in the third year of a six-year pact. Until recently was among Florida’s core of young players. He had every reason to believe he was staying put, but it’s worth wondering why he was so upset to leave a perennial loser for a Cup contender?

Opposed to wondering why players would want to sign in Toronto with their track record? ever

I don’t understand why everyone is questioning the kids emotions! If you were told this afternoon you were moving to freaking Vancouver and had to leave tomorrow wouldn’t you be sad?? You have to leave your friends, your house, and the life you built here, and do it with zero notice. My god, let the guy be a human and feel sad about leaving the organization that gave him his NHL start.

I am quite sure that he was aware of his “issues”, that the team had with him. What I loved about Booth, is that he always pushed himself to be better. Even though, he had an impressive 20+ goals last year, after coming back from a nasty concussion, he still had other issues at hand, it seems.
He has said he wanted to help bring that winning mentality back to S. FL. When the Blackhawks won the cup, he said he wanted to bring that to S. FL.
I wish him the best of luck in his venture. He will be extremely missed. I will miss his positive attitude, smile and hard work ethics.
All I can say, since I was out of the area this weekend is that whatever my personal feelings for Booth’s hockey abilities (that he was a fast skater with a below-average shot), he’s a good kid. You can’t question his “heart” and for that I’m sad to see him go. However, for anyone to question why he’d be upset about uprooting, even if it was for a Cup contender in Vancouver, is a complete idiot. Booth continually said he wanted to stay here – and who wouldn’t?
His years of effort and sacrifice with the Panthers are starting to pay off. Even though he’s going to a much better situation, the realization that he won’t see the payoff is probably crushing. It’s also his first trade – the first time a team has said “we like you, but we like what we could get for you better”.
Hard not to feel bad for the guy. If I’m in the stands on his return I’ll cheer for him. People can question his skills all day but never his effort.
After reading a bunch of comments and watching tons of expert “opinions” I definitely understand the why and how on the surface this could benefit the panthers. I just think when you have a player this dedicated to a team and dedicated to improving himself, it is crazy to not think that is going to benefit the team in the long run…
What an uber d…… I’m not permitted to finish that statement under the rules and regulations of the LBC. You all get the idea.
I hereby predict Captain Mike Weaver #43 will score 6G 20A -RCR 0G3A 10/22

I’m going to miss David Booth, a real honest to goodness character guy and someone who I feel really embodies the attitude and spirit of a hockey player. He’s going to do well in Vancouver, it’s just a shame that he can’t do that down here with us.
Hockey is a business, only we fans love it as a game.
I sure hope Burrows doesn’t try to cornhole him until after the All Star break
I hate the Canucks, their punk style of play (which cost them the series vs Boston) and most of all their fans – spoiled turds who boo Luongo and it isn’t even November, and set fire to their own city, which wasn’t an abberation in 1994. Nice to the fine folks from that era pass the torch to another set of losers
Why does FLA continue to do business with Vancouver? It’s not just Tallon, it’s Santos, Keanan, etc. I don’t like seeing FLA guys end up on that team and I don’t care much for their castaways either (except Darcy but he was a Panther before). I realize this is a salary dump but I like Booth, always will…..hope he does well either way.
Another west coast Panthers fan who misses a good media noche at Verailles
This man puts every Miami Dolphins player to shame in the heart department.

To be fair, Tony S is NOT a leader of men. And Chad Henne is the epitome of a robot.

It's off topic...
but the Dolphin’s problem is the same problem that the Panthers have had for years. When you draft players like Ted Ginn with the 10th overall pick, you’re going to get bad results. I mean, has anyone seen Dennis Shvidki lately? When the Dolphins overhaul their scouting department maybe their coach would be successful. Until then, I can’t blame Tony for mailing it in. If you were the coach and the owner was flying around the country trying to hire someone else (Harbaugh) and still had you under contract – I’d be collecting my check and waiting until I could leave.
Actually. . .
I saw Shvidki twice at work in August to help him with his iphone before he went back to Russia for the KHL season. Couldn’t help but fan out and pull one of these on him.

Problem isn’t the scouting department. Problem is the same as the Cohen era of the Panthers. An owner using the sports franchise to control a venue for the money it can bring in, and to show off his shiny new toy to all his top end buddies/clientele.
