Around SBN: Why Hockey Fans Should Root For Devils Vs. Kings

Friday Caterwaul: Panthers Open Forum

Photo

"Your power play doesn’t score a goal and it’s a difference maker in the game."

- Panthers coach Kevin Dineen, referring to his club's inability to convert with 7 minutes on the man-advantage, including 59 seconds of 4-on-3 against St. Louis Thursday.

"Highlights" - er, from a Blues perspective - above. Mike Santorelli's goal (1:20 mark) is about the only low-hanging fruit you're going to find.

I said yes, however Sid is not likely to be hit by anyone on our team. We really don’t punish forwards once they hit our zone.

I hereby predict Captain Mike Weaver #43 will score 6G 20A -RCR 0G7A 11/16

Ballard’s out, too:

Vigneault wasn’t as optimistic about Ballard, who left Wednesday’s game after just five shifts following a collision with Chicago’s Daniel Carcillo. … "He’s out indefinitely with those back issues," said coach. "We’ll see how that turns around here in the next couple of days. He got hit during the game, his back tightened up, so we’ll see how that responds."

Repik got called up. Is it just his turn or has he earned it?

by jimmyh71 on Nov 18, 2011 2:33 PM EST reply actions

Rampage’s leading scorer, so take it from there.

by MrOmnipotent on Nov 18, 2011 2:50 PM EST up reply actions

He has to show some responsibility on both ends of the ice for him to stick. Repik has consistently been disappointing to me, but he is still young so maybe this is his year.

I’ve never been sold on him being anything more than a thirdliner.

Coming to BAC for Game

Hey all – Caps fan visiting the folks for the holiday and am taking them to the Pens game tomorrow night. Any suggestions of where to grab a bite ahead of time? Are either of the restaurants inside the building worth the money?

Good to see Flash doing so well for you guys – was sad to see him go, but glad that he’s recovered and playing.

Thanks in advance.

welcome to south florida. not a single resturant inside the BAC worth the money, it is wicked expensive. all that surrounds the arena are your normal chains. if you go directly across the street to the mall you can find places like P.F. Changs, Grand Lux, Cheesecake Factory, etc. all around are Fridays, Chilis, Applebees and the like.

by stopdropandbreathe on Nov 18, 2011 9:22 PM EST up reply actions

Many thanks. Coming from the Gulf side – haven’t been on the Atlantic side in a while. Even though you guys are in the same division, I will never root for the Pens.

by GW Dawgs on Nov 18, 2011 10:30 PM EST up reply actions

Whew. That clears that up. :)

by Spencer-IV on Nov 18, 2011 10:34 PM EST up reply actions

How do you feel about copious amounts of red meat?

Brazilian or Argentine? If that’s not your thing there’s some good sushi near by as well. In addition to the Fridays/Chili’s/Applebees/Cheesecake Factory/Grand Lux Cafe options you’d find in any suburban waste land.

If you’re staying anywhere near Coral Springs though Big Bear is worth the trip, even if it takes another half hour hour of your day (try the Kodiak Belgian Doppelbock).

  • Disclaimer: non-employee of any of these places, I just live in Sunrise.

by Spencer-IV on Nov 18, 2011 10:30 PM EST up reply actions

Correction: since it’s a Belgian it’s a DUBBEL not a Dopplebock.

by Spencer-IV on Nov 18, 2011 10:32 PM EST up reply actions

Ive never heard of Big Bear (east side dweller). Damn that looks like a great spot to eat!!

That place has been around for years. it was opening about the same time as the original Brewzzi’s in Boca did.

Almost forgot to ask:

You’re rooting for the Panthers, right? If not there’s a Taco Bell and a McDonald’s near by. :P Either way, enjoy the game!

Will be rooting for the Panthers. Thanks for all the recs.
