Saturday Caterwaul: Panthers Open Forum
"Florida's Dmitry Kulikov briefly woke up the crowd and nearly put [Corey] Tropp to sleep with one of the hardest hits of the season. The Buffalo rookie crossed the Panthers' blue line with 12:30 gone and was rudely met by Kulikov. A loud groan comprising sympathy and grimacing echoed through the building."

The real "loser" Friday? Idle Boston, who not only dropped their past two games, but watched BUF, WSH and WPG creep to within five points. Of course, every schwartz has two sides: they're rewarded with the 20-point Blue Jackets this evening.
Why last night rocked:
- Scott Clemmensen remains unblemished in regulation.
- The Leafs failed to gain a point. Not much else to crow about.
Why last night jonesed:
- Washington over Toronto, 4-2
- Winnipeg over Carolina, 4-2
Why tonight is a Big Deal:
- Montreal at New Jersey, 1 p.m.
- Tampa Bay at Philadelphia, 7
- Winnipeg at Detroit, 7
- Pittsburgh at the Isles, 7
- Rags at Buffalo, 7
- Vancouver at Ottawa, 7
- Boston at Columbus, 7
Next up for the Cats:
Sunday from MSG; LBC Game Thread stirs the tanks - as ordered - at 7 p.m.

Good to see the new standard the entire organization has. They’re all ticked off for getting 3 out of 4 points on a back to back BOS/BUF set of games.
Owner Cliff Viner bristled when a reporter asked if he was satisfied to eke out a point after knocking off the Stanley Cup champion Bruins 24 hours earlier.
"There’s a lot of disappointment in the room,‘’ Dineen said. "You can always look at the half-full side of the glass, walking out with a point, but I think we’re beyond that as a team.’’
"We expect to win and that type of disappointment that we feel tonight is positive,’’ said Clemmensen, who had 18 saves but lost his first game of the season (3-1).

I think if you make a DiPietro-Luongo contract that doesn’t work out, you should live with the consequences.

I can forgive the DiPietro contract, as it was signed before the lockout. But contracts signed after the lockout should be enforced.
