NHL Store in NYC: No Florida Respect

PrintI headed to NYC on Saturday and decided to hit up the NHL Store. The store is very wonderful of you are a fan of NYR, PHI, PIT, WAS, MON, TOR, BOS. With the Panthers being relevant I thought surely some interesting things would pop up there that I couldn't find at the BAC or at least more than a handful of items at all. All I saw were a few red and powder blue jerseys, some cups, a shot glass, and that's it. I mean the Montreal, Maroons, Hartford Whalers, and Kansas City Scouts had more stuff than us. I hope it's like what my cousin said, maybe they sold out of a lot of stuff now that the Cats are playing consistently well. Didn't like the setup they had there either, NBA Store was much better organized. Oh well maybe it's up to the Cats to personally make themselves known at MSG this Sunday night. Bright side is that this Panthers jersey I've been walking around with is being met with lots of looks and approvals and dismay by a NYR fan.

I have been to the NHL store in NYC and it should be noted that it is not a terribly big store and it can’t represent all teams equally. It has a tendency to show off Rangers crap and the memorabilia of star players like Ovechkin and Crosby more so than smaller market teams. They also are fond of “vintage” jerseys and things of that nature that Florida doesn’t really have a long enough history to supply to consumers.
I hope your experience in NYC was a good one though!

Oh it was, luckily the Nintendo Store made up for my disappointment. And some crazy guy in a tiger suit.

That’s true. I find it less disappointing that I can’t get Cats stuff there because I can get it at home, and more disappointing that they don’t have a good selection of DVDs and that sort of thing. I got a good Wayne Gretzky set and a doc on the Flyers the first time I was there, but they didn’t have some other titles I would have bought had they had them. And they didn’t have any when I was there last Christmas. But I did get a discount MSL jersey, and some Whalers and Flyers cold weather gear.
I also had a good conversation about the Panthers and the general state of hockey in South Florida with one of the employees last time I was in.

For New Years I visited the Hockey Hall of Fame and they had NADA for the Panthers as well.
A lil thunder and a lil lightning is what the Cats are going to bring this year.
you mean they removed the original ticket from our first home game? the gear beezer wore in the finals? beezers mask? pavel bures gear? Luongos stuff? Huberdeaus jersey from the saint john team that won the memorial cup last year? jovos #1 overall picks? Bill Torrey being in there as a builder? Wayne Hyzinga (horribly spelled) Newys jersey from his last NHL game.. Belfours as well.. rubber rats..
