SUNRISE, FL - OCTOBER 15: A general view of the BankAtlantic center during the game between the Florida Panthers and the Tampa Bay Lightning on October 15, 2011 at the BankAtlantic Center in Sunrise, Florida. The Panthers defeated the Lightning 3-2 in a shoot out.
"The National Hockey League team has taken several Las Vegas casino operators on tours of the [BankAtlantic Center] property and discussed the possibility of building a destination resort casino on the land surrounding the arena if Florida legislators approve an expansion of casino gambling. The plan is similar to one being explored by the Miami Dolphins."
- Miami Herald's Elaine Walker; much more on what has the possibility of escalating into a regional dogfight between Broward and Miami/Dade counties here. On a similar note, anyone hit the Panthers Foundation Ice & Dice event on Wednesday evening? Love to hear some stories...

Why last night rocked:
- Lets be honest: Boston's 5-2 victory over Ottawa was a blessing for FLA. At 20-9-1 the Bruins are displaying very few signs of weakness making them the odds-on favorite to win their division. That being the case, just about any game they play - and win - against another Eastern club is boon for the Panthers.
Why last night jonesed:
- None from where I'm sitting
Why tonight is a Big Deal:
- Vancouver at Carolina, 7 p.m...should this "game" even be listed here?
- Dallas at the Isles, 7
- Calgary at Tampa Bay, 7:30
- Philadelphia at Montreal, 7:30
- Rangers at St. Louis, 8
- Washington at Winnipeg, 8:30...ugh; go for the Caps to leapfrog, or the Jets in hopes that they eventually slow down? Whatever, so long as it's kept in regulation.
Next up for the Cats:
- Tomorrow vs Calgary at the BAC; no local TV, but your LBC Game Thread
courageouslypresses on at 7.
