James Wright

You’re getting a pretty decent player there. He’s not flashy, and probably maxes out at 3rd-line centre down the road, but he’s solid defensively and was on Tampa’s PK unit while a 19-year old rookie.

Full disclosure: I may be pretty close to his family.

He was second on TB’s salary and cap hit charts, so that’s something. Then again, Oberg was the same on FLA’s (which absolutely shocked me).

Lotta love for Wright over at RC. The fact that you “may be pretty close to his family” only helps :)

You probably get me as a fan now

And you definitely get his cousin, as soon as she pries herself from Alcatraz to read the news (really). He’s good, but he’s having a disastrous season after knee injures. He’ll rebound, though. And here he might not get buried on the depth chart as much as he was in Tampa.

And now he gets a competent goalie to play in front of in the AHL. That’ll help.

San Antonio badly needs the offensive boost, if he’s able to provide it. Had terrific numbers with Norfolk a year ago.

Hi Ryan

Wright seems like solid player, looking forward to watch his offense develop.

I remember Mike Vernace as one of about 5 players to ever rise through the ranks from the CHL up to the NHL. Guys got determination.

I’m putting here for reflection later on in the season…. #14 Tomas [Fleischmann] is getting a 40G season. FLASH COUNT: 11G/13A

Wright fits all the Tallon prerequisites: Charachter, Size, Speed, Skill and more Charachter. And with a nickname like killer something must be special about this guy.
TB was really high on him at 19 years old. Though he has stalled of late, he’s still young and to me looks to develop to be a regular on our roster.
Tallon and Santos have this incredible knack of snatching up quality players that other teams have thrown in the towel on way too soon.
And with Robak and Petrovic waiting in the wings, Kostka and Oberg were obviously expendable.
