Friday Caterwaul: Panthers GameDay Open Forum
"I think [the Panthers] are catching a lot of teams by surprise. A lot of teams might not have taken them seriously. When we played them, they played a smart road game.’’

Peverley out for the Bruins tonight.
Enjoy your win, I’ll be over here crying my eyes out and drinking jack from the bottle. Maybe even Evan Williams. I want to feel the pain, it’s all I’ve got left

Ellerby played good last night and Gudbranson has to get back in there at some point. Makes sense.

This is probably going to be the hardest game to play this season. An excellent rested tough Bruins team who barely gives up goals and is probably much more aware of how to beat us this time. And we don’t even have stephen weiss. Wonder what the odds are for this game lol
Yeah, but Peverley’s out.

"He’s not going to play (Friday) night so he’ll be out through the holidays and we’ll evaluate him (Friday)," coach Kevin Dineen said. "But he’s sorely missed. He plays a lot of valuable minutes for us. I’d be very surprised to see him early after the Christmas break."
Not that soon, apparently
“I’d be very surprised to see him early after the Christmas break.”
Ouch. That’s not good at all. Maybe they’re going to rest Weiss until the new year? But we need him to kick the crap out of Montreal on new year’s eve!
He’s Stephen Weiss though. We usually find out, like Versteeg, that he plays with injuries throughout the year. I’m expecting him to return before New Year’s.

It looks like we can do an emergency recall, so basically I don’t think we have to do anything but wait until after the WJC.
Emergency recalls are only one game, the Panthers should get some players back by the end of the WJC.

Didn’t Matthias play two or three when he was called up on emergency recall.
(Off to check the rulebook…)

Litter Box Cats - Your Panthers Colossus.
OK, the rule is that you can recall someone on an emergency basis if a player illness, injury or suspension causes your team roster to go below 12 forwards, 6 defensemen and 2 goaltenders. You have to provide evidence of said emergency to the league. And you have to specify which player the recalled player is replacing and when that player is back you have to send the other guy back or transfer him as a regular recall (including waivers if applicable).
I still say they don’t do it, because they’re not interested in that right now. I think they only call up guys that could, in theory, stick for the season if necessary.

Yeah I highly doubt they do anything especially with players returning soon.

Well if we managed to pull out a win tonight it would be a christmas miracle! Hopefully Weiss is good to go on Tues night and will get lots of rest the next few days before practice on monday! He is the main ingrediant for this team! Hopefully Upshall will be back with the team in about 2 weeks and they said Goc may start skating this coming week and it looks like Samuelson and Sturm may not be out too long…Speedy recoverys to all the panthers!!!
Dara
So our forwards that are out are:
Sean Bergenheim
Jack Skille
Stephen Weiss
Marco Sturm
Mikael Samuelsson
Marcel Goc
Scottie Upshall
How soon would you guys say we see each one of those guys back? I’d say Goc (unless he’s facing some set-backs) and maybe Bergenheim/Skille? I feel like Weiss, Samuelsson, Upshall, and kinda Sturm are gonna be out a little while.
And what’s crazy is at least three of those guys would be playing top-6 minutes for us… so esssentially we lost an entire second line (and the key part to our first line).
And btw, I blame last night more on Clemmenson than I do on injuries. I didn’t see the first goal, but he kinda screwed us especially on that second goal.
We would’ve won if it wasn’t for that second goal.

By Grace of Hockey Gods.. Weiss, Samuelsson, Bergy, Skille, Upshall, Sturm and Goc. Sturm blocking the puck with his face could be dealing with “C” symptoms. Goc hasn’t been cleared to be on ice yet. Upshall is suppposed to start skating after Xmas. I’m saying a little prayer that Weiss is ok and Dineen is toying with us.

Matt Amos from Raw Charge found this gem from Kevin Dineen
Yes, I’ve taken up Spanish lessons; I think that’s important in the South Florida market.
Any chance that’s a jab at the Habs new non-francophone coach? I love this guy more and more every day.

Yep, and backing up his former team mate as well.

Honestly, I didn’t remember they played together. That makes it even better, thanks for the reminder!

Cunneyworth (and asst Ladouceur, MTL), Quennevillle (CHI), Tippett (PHX), Dineen, Evason (asst, WSH), Anderson (asst, PHX), Jarvis & Houda (assts, BOS) all played together at same time with Hartford. Probably leaving someone out.
A boatload of others in various positions around the league as well.

I wonder….Just wondering… if they would try and put Garrison as a winger? I know he started off as a forward before moving to the D-Line. Using Big Buff as my example for this.
A lil thunder and a lil lightning is what the Cats are going to bring this year.
I’d rather see Ellerby skating on the fourth line than that. They need GarriBomb on defense too much.
