Florida hosts the Detroit Red Wings tonight at 7:30...our Game Preview at 3, followed by the LBC Live Game Thread at 6. Onward...

Hockey Weekend Across America kicks off with "Wear Your Favorite Hockey Jersey" Day. Our attorney friends will be looking extra sharp this afternoon sporting their JetBlues during family arbitration hearings.
Wings fans are looking forward to carrying over last night's success in Tampa Bay with a similar effort in Sunrise. Conversely, Bolts Faithful were pleased just to get the Yzerman hoopla behind them.
Behold the Panthers' next Five Minute Man.
GM Tallon on listening to trade proposals for any and all of his players: "This team hasn’t done anything in 10 years, so why wouldn’t I?"
More on center Stephen Weiss and the Panthers' "tough decision" to come.
The Hurricanes will be retiring former captain Rod Brind'Amour's #17 this weekend. Gotta say, we're really going to miss his performances against Florida: 63 points (28 goals) in 84 career games. His 6 gamewinners were a hoot as well.
FS Florida's excellent Inside The Panthers series premieres a new episode, "Hockey in the Community", immediately following this evening's game.

I can’t believe I forgot to bring a hockey jersey with me to work today. I remembered when I saw one of our students was sporting a Franzen jersey. I was going to wear one tonight anyway because it’s a game day. [pout]

Well, that guy wasted perfectly good seats for throwing one during play. And he was politely escorted to jail by the Sunrise police. I was screaming for them to taze him, but sadly, it didn’t happen. I do like how all the Detroit players, Zetterberg particularly, ignored him while he was trying to get their attention – that’s class.

ACTUALLY... Funny thing about that...

He would actually have to clear waivers. Something to do with him filing his retirement papers and then coming out of retirement. Phoenix wanted to sign goalie coach Sean Burke to a 1 day contract early this season when Bryzgalov went down with the Flu, but they couldnt because he was a retired NHLer and would ahve to clear.
