Hearing that Bryan McCabe would prefer not to leave FLA - he has NTC - but also hearing he's been told by FLA not likely to be back next yr.

I would be sad to see McCabe go. =(
Watching the slump this team went through when he was out is something I don’t want to see anytime soon.
Question is…Who is our next Captain?
From what I’ve seen, no one on the current roster has really stepped up and showed leadership. Feel free to correct me. :)

Ummm… Weiss?
If anyone is close to being off of the “auction block” it’s him. He brings it every night. He plays through injury. He came out and says he’ll be a Panther for life if management lets him…. What else do you want?

He’s my choice; just pointing out that “everyone” is available.

Gotcha.
So many conflicting reports. I’ve heard that Tallon is saying he’s not available. Then i’m hearing well, anyone is available, then i’m hearing only if Tallon’s socks are literally knocked off and land on his hands does he trade Weiss. So who really knows.
(PS- i’ve got this inside guy who said he’ll tell me Tuesday at 6am who the Panthers won’t trade at the deadline. Can’t wait to find out.)

Tuesday, eh? Can I get in on that? It’ll be our secret ;)

McCabe’s also 35. Likely the difference.

Didn’t want to see McCabe leave us, as he really is a great D-Man. Right now though, looks like they don’t want any Vet D-men for next year unless they keep Wideman, which I want to see happen, and Bust-a-Leg Allen is definitly gone by next season. At least most likely Ellerby won’t be going back to the minors since Kuli will be back within the next few games in which then we will probably keep him up with us if a trade is to happen with the defense. As for the next captain, all signs point to Weiss or Booth, which I would approve of greatly.
- Go Panthers -
weird that Tallon wouldn't want him back.

I think they wouldn’ mind having McCabe bac, but, at nowhere near the salary he earns now. He probably wouldn’t want to finish his career here with a disccounted salary and a non-playoff team
Tallon wants picks, picks and more picks. Unless someone knocks him over with a huge offer for one of those two, we’re likely to see mostly picks come back. And maybe a couple of prospects or minor leaguers to restock Rochester for when we have to plunder them to replace these guys.
