Panthers: auditions continue as recalls & demotions roll on
Not much question the Florida Panthers are looking toward next year and beyond as bodies are transferred between Sunrise and Rochester with greater frequency.
Forwards Bill Thomas and Tim Kennedy were returned to the Amerks on Sunday, opening space for wingers Jordan Knackstedt and Eric Selleck to make their Panthers season debut.
Knackstedt, a RW, has 9 points (4 goals) in 31 games with Rochester, while LW Selleck appeared in 58 matches, notching 2 goals and 12 points. Both players are on two-way entry-level deals (Knackstedt will be an RFA in July).
Florida hosts Philadelphia Tuesday.
UPDATE: via Twitter, OFP is reporting Patrick Rissmiller and Mike Duco have been recalled from ROC. Good luck in sorting all of this out.
UPDATE 2: From the AHL...
| 03/14/2011 | Eric Selleck (LW) | Rochester | ADD Returned on loan from Florida/NHL |
| 03/14/2011 | Jordan Knackstedt (RW) | Rochester | ADD Returned on loan from Florida/NHL |
| 03/14/2011 | Michael Duco (LW) | Rochester | DEL Recalled from loan by Florida/NHL |
| 03/13/2011 | Bill Thomas (RW) | Rochester | ADD Returned on loan from Florida (NHL) |
| 03/13/2011 | Eric Selleck (LW) | Rochester | DEL Recalled from loan by Florida (NHL) |

| 03/13/2011 | Tim Kennedy (C) | Rochester | ADD Returned on loan from Florida (NHL) |
Soooo...at the end of the day - or 5:30 pm, anyway - Duco appears to be the only call-up to Florida. Selleck has been suspended for four games by the American League "as a result of his actions in a game vs. Toronto on Mar. 11."

Well, we know Thomas is a good player and kennedy will make the roster if he has a good camp so we might as well see who else is out there

Jeez…high praise at PPP. Interesting that his first NHL action may come against PHI.

I’m on the road; just saw Selleck was suspended by the AHL four games for the colbourne hit. Assuming NHL will honor that to some degree…

They don’t. Kadri was up earliar in the season while suspended. He had to serve the suspension when he was later re-assigned.

Correct, guys; Cats going to let him stew, as they did with a couple of other players earlier in the year.

From Kevin O...
Also, wingers Patrick Rissmiller and Michael Duco were recalled (on an emergency basis). The parent Florida Panthers don’t have any straight recalls left and can only bring up players when they have injuries.
Apparently Selleck and RW Jordan Knackstedt were sent back to the Amerks by the Panthers, though I don’t know if they ever left town. They were called up on Sunday after forwards Tim Kennedy and Bill Thomas were sent down.
When Kennedy and Thomas returned to help the Amerks, someone needed to go up because, Weber said, NHL rules require 20 healthy players on rosters at all times. Sounds more like this is an alleged requirement, since the New Jersey Devils played short for several games this season.
Lots more on what caused all this weirdness at the D&C here.

According to the Panthers, it’s Duco and Rissmiller up. Nothing at all about the other swap. They’re all listed on the roster. Duco is 6 and Rissmiller 34 for those playing at home.
I’m so confused, I can’t remember who’s on the roster. Which is probably good, since it makes it harder for me to heckle the team. I’m still calling everyone who wears number 4 “Jay Bo.”

By “all” I mean Duco, Rissmiller, Kennedy, Thomas.
