Panthers' Tallon to have hand in U.S. National Team player selection
Florida's Dale Tallon will have direct input when player selection gets underway for the next U.S. national team. He joins quite the colorful cast of characters, as outlined several days ago by USA Hockey:
The U.S. Men's National Team Advisory Group includes National Hockey League general managers Brian Burke (Toronto), David Poile (Nashville), Paul Holmgren (Philadelphia), Ray Shero (Pittsburgh), Dean Lombardi (Los Angeles), Dale Tallon (Florida); Atlanta Thrashers president Don Waddell; and Jim Johannson, USA Hockey's assistant executive director for hockey operations.
This should be an excellent opportunity for at least one of the Yanks on the Florida Panthers roster, most notably Michigan's David Booth, to make an appearance with the national team during the upcoming IIHF World Championship tournament beginning April 29th in Slovakia.
Other Americans in the current Florida lineup: D Joe Callahan (MA), F Ryan Carter (MN), G Scott Clemmensen (IA), F Marty Reasoner (NY), F Jack Skille (WI), G Tyler Plante (WI).

It is very reassuring....
To know that finally our GM is held in high regard amongst his peers and throughout the world of hockey! It does bode well for our future as well.

Clemmer won’t be in the tournament due to the upcoming birth of his child, but I’d be surprised to not see Booth.

Interesting; Clemmensen might have been a lock for a spot.

I’d like to see Clemmer get some due, but I wouldn’t have considered him a lock for a spot. I think Andy would be your starter and potentially a guy like Jack Campbell from last year getting some looks.
Personally, aside from Clemmer, I think there’s better than 2:1 that Reasoner gets picked and a near certainty that Booth gets picked. Reasoner’s too good at faceoffs and penalty killing.
