Thursday Caterwaul: Panthers GameDay Open Forum
Presented for your perusal: the inevitable "slow news day link dump":
- Ottawa goaltender Craig Anderson - and yes, we'll see he and his career 3-0-1 record vs. Florida again this evening - has big plans for the offseason, which do not include a stint on the U.S. National team. Cough - Clemmensen - cough...
- Speaking of the Sens, it was on this date that Ottawa won their third Stanley Cup championship. In 1923.
- Stephen Weiss (49 points) and Jason Spezza (48) - leading scorers for their respective teams - are locked in a death-roll for that elusive 50th point of the season. Current residents of the "50 point club": Chris Stewart (in 57 games!), Nathan Horton, Jamie Benn, Mikael Samuelsson.
- Recall on Tuesday forward Marty Reasoner getting tweaked by a shot to the, um, midsection? Coach DeBoer sums it up thusly: "Real painful. That's real pain."
- Michal Repik is entrenched in a dreadful stretch, with 1 point (an assist) in his past nine games; that single point came seven games ago. Somehow he's managed to limit his liability to a mere -1 over that time, though he's produced more than 2 SOG only once (6, in Sunday's loss to Pittsburgh).
- Been parking at Sawgrass Mills Mall's lots to avoid hefty fees at BankAtlantic Center for concerts? That party is soon going the way of the Dodo and Kirby cast-iron vacuum cleaners.
- ESPN (I know...who?) examines how GM Dale Tallon may go about rebuilding his club in an unexpected way. Love to share more on the article but since suffering a mega-billing error in 2006 (amazingly the fault of the WWL) I've refused to pony up for that elitist, phony "Insider" status.
- From the "Help a fellow fan" department, our pal Stacey is a student in Michigan who needs our assistance on a research project covering the "promotion of hockey and its growth potential in relation to the different geographical regions of America". It's a mouthful but the quick one-minute poll is not, so head over and lend her some South Florida excellence.
- Only in Sunrise: go to a hockey game, leave with a schnoodle. Info here.
Floor's yours. Live Game Thread at 7pm.

So is that good old fashion get together still on for Saturday? Where again is everyone sitting tonight? I’ll stop by during intermission and say hello
(Also what time do the doors open? I’d liketo get there early)

Also, our group (me, Maple, OldDave, studyaid) sit in 422. Me & Maple in row 2, everyone else in row 1. We’re usually found wandering around downstairs the first half hour or so after doors and then up at our seats after.
AFAIC, Saturday is still on, even if our fearless leader can’t make it.

Well you can’t miss the Billboard. The urinal stickers will be found in the first floor bathrooms.
What else is must-see? Sunset from the cancer deck is nice. (That would be the outside smoking ledge behind section 423/424). Pantherland is ok.

Love this place, whatever beach I’m at (Lauderdale-by-the-sea?) isnt even that crowded. The sun is awesome and the ocean is warm :)

LBS
Make sure you pay the meter.. and don’t speed. Laud by the Sea is like #1 for giving out tickets for both.
I work near Beniha-ha’s. Best place for a quiet beach day.
COOP
Dont worry, we’ve been watching the meters inently and saw a guy get pulled over last night from the patio at Aruba’s
Watching the giant container ships on the horizon right now, palm trees coconuts and sea birds…so glad to be here

Oh damnit, I just checked the standings, with the Islanders losing last night, the Panthers are now in 13th in the east, and 5th from the bottom. We really need the Sens to pull out the win tonight.
13 Florida 77 29 36 12 70 187 212 15-15-8 14-21-4 2-5-3 OT 2
14 NY Islanders 77 29 36 12 70 212 244 16-17-5 13-19-7 4-4-2 Lost 3
15 Ottawa 77 29 38 10 68 177 238 14-19-5 15-19-5 5-4-1 Lost 1

WELL GOSH DARN IT
I was hoping we’d get this guy
take these broken wings and learn to fly again, learn to live so free...
“ESPN (I know…who?) examines how GM Dale Tallon may go about rebuilding his club in an unexpected way.”
I cant read this article either. But at first glance, this guy expects players to develop in a just four years. He must be a Florida Panthers scout…….. Most good players take longer than that to develop, please see Brent Seabrook, Duncan Keith, and Dustin Byfuglien as proof in development. They did not reach their prime until two years ago.
Oh yeah, there is also outside the box with Mike Knuble and Brooks Laich that did not hit their prime until age 25 -27 range. Neither did Patrick Sharp.
Or Jason Garrison?

FREE!
I have two tickets for tonight’s game if anyone here is interested. Upper bowl, nosebleedish, but the price is right. :)
Love to go but working until gametime.
Btw: these are not nosebleeds; very good sightlines.
