Highlights from a recent radio interview on The Fan 590 featuring former Florida Panthers coach Peter DeBoer, who - completely in character as the man of pride and class that he has proven to be - is rather complimentary of the franchise as it currently stands. The good stuff gets rolling when Doug MacLean - bench boss of the 1996 Stanley Cup Final team, and general manager of the playoffless Columbus Blue Jackets through 2007 - chimes in:
"Until they fix the whole operation from top to bottom, they've got no chance of having any success, and I've followed it as closely as anybody the last fifteen years; (the Panthers are) a joke."
This prompted a moment of very uncomfortable silence among all participants, who raced to cover the dead air.
And folks still mention MacLean as a possible coaching candidate for the Cats.
